Game play question
Does anyone know if there are chase scenes, fighting scenes, dying, stealth or hiding required? I just started the demo on observer mode so I'm hoping it's strictly atmospheric. The game sounds good but I don't like any type of the action I spoke of in my first sentence. I'm ok with jump scares. And puzzle solving too, the more the merrier. It's a lot of money to pay only to find out it is an action type game.

Part of the fun of these games are chances of your characters dying through choices you make or missing QTEs

Fighting scenes, dying, stealth or hiding are required in all games made by Supermassive. That is why all their games are so popular.

I thought there would be a few more surprises since the options menu and some of the popups sort of imply this is the case (Plus The Devil in me introduced real-time stealth, so it would make sense for the team to bring it forward to their future games)

I guess I was anticipating some sort of shooting mechanic also, but then Gigachad Marksman Sam just automatically headshots the killer from across the room using the arm that he just got impaled through like it was nothing.. during a non-interactive cutscene anyway, so who knows :spazdunno:

One thing I will say though is that the QTE windows of success in the action/fight scenes that we did get to play are *microscopic* compared to the previous games, which is a good thing since I can actually see myself failing a bunch of these instead of just getting a flawless playthrough like is often the case (Already failed a few non-fatal ones here!)

I played at Survivor difficulty, and I had to do a few button mashes and a couple skill checks that were slowed down and easy in comparison to DBD gen skill checks. (My first skill check was perfect[great], 2nd was a miss, and my 3rd was good.) I did have to move my cursor to direct my attack into a pinpoint attack. I was happy with the result of my play through of the first chapter.

I did not have to hide. I did not have any chase. My opponent did die after a struggle event.
All of the scenes felt like a movie scene for me, where I saw it play out after I made a simple choice.

I don't think any of my choices were timed, as I think they were designed to hand a controller to another person watching the movie with you, to let them choose without any pressure on fumbles.

Have you never played a Supermassive game before because that's how they all work?

They're essentially movies with an interactive element rather than full blown action games. Failing things or certain actions you take can be the difference between characters living or dying at some point during the game.

The demo is just the start of the game which always goes easy on you as it's showing you the mechanics.

Have you ever answered OP before without spinning out of control through your own perspective? I answered OP to hopefully explain it to them in a way they could understand. But thanks for trying to give me an explanation for my explanation to OP. It was fun and funny, if not interesting.

It was the way you wrote it came across as you were expecting something different than what you got rather than an explanation, certainly not somebody with experience of Supermassive games. Sorry if I misunderstood. It's also potentially misleading because it is only the prologue it's likely hasn't got all the action elements that'll be experienced in the full game.

Thank you everyone for your responses. It seems this game is not for me.
