Button Mashing QTE (Controller)

Anyone else having issues with the QTE of mashing ''X''? No matter how fast I do it, it fails on most events ruining the run

Haven't had issues with those QTEs, though I've been frustrated with the skill checks. Press the button when they pop up, only to have the skill check land at the very end point or out of the check zone and fail it. It's like there's a delay or something.

Same issue here, i tried with keyboard and mouse and even controller and no matter what i select is miss the qte everytime. Honestly wish they would stop adding this stupid crap in the games.

I mean, I get it, it's part of the whole DBD thing, but I think it's tied to all the fps issues people are having. My computer can run pretty much everything....except this game. Sometimes it runs smooth, sometimes it gets so bad, I have to sit and wait quite a while just for the animation to catch up to the audio that stopped how long ago.

I was hoping the QTE's would be more like Until Dawn or The Quarry but I get why they went with the whole DBD Skill Check. Just sucks as you mentioned that the game has massive FPS issues including horrendous stuttering

Really frustrating for the longer run. If you like doing replay's to get different events down the road it's really gonna stop you from doing that until it gets fixed

Yes i agree fully kinda stupid to have these animations and failing causes you to die, i guess they wanted it to be like dbd in that sense where even when hitting a skill check with merciless storm you still fail and then die because the kilelr knows where you're at. Yes that bug iss back in dbd again. Kinda pissed off that tehy could not even test their game enough to deliver something that works.

As someone playing on desktop and completed the survivor mode, some of the button mash sequences give you JUST enough time to complete them before the timer runs out. I fully mean you have the leeway of like... a second or two, and I'd say I'm a pretty good masher. Somebody said they played it on the hardest difficulty and they are quite literally impossible to get, the timer is too fast. The game is in dire need of tweaking. I have no clue who play tested this.

The qte events are oksih, the hit this button usually x to avoid death even though it never shows progress is the killer. It is completely broken, i thought the first death was set in stone and i could do nothing about it but seems the devs do not care and instead rush a game out because greed. The demo should have told them they had issues and they should have delayed it. Worst is their social media pages are acting like this was unknown issue, i mean who ok'd a game running like this? I also have a 4090 and the game is barely playable and gets worse with the stuttering in game when being chased by frank stone and i actually just crashed the game because it was stuttering so bad i could not even see what was going on. Not sure if the issue is behaviour or if it was supermassive fault. But this game is a steaming pile of crap.

It does seem like the game wasn't tested fully for optimisation before launch. I imagine this was down to the development team being split between this and the Until Dawn UE5 remake dropping next month. Seems to me UE5 needs more work for games of this magnitude

I had the same issue. I changed it in the settings after my first run. xD Now I just need to keep the button pressed and it works fine.

Try changing the settings to Hold instead of Smashing X to see if that works. Lemme know if that helps
