Can someone explain the ending to me [Spoilers]
I haven't played DbD in years so I'm not sure if Augustine is like a real character in that game. But like, what was up with the post credit scene lol. Also, wtf was with the story too. Did they ever explain why the Sheriff was a few years older than Linda in 2024. I know it's not the same sheriff in this current timeline, but how does his age even make sense. How did he get there? Like what lmao.

- Augustine is a character original to this game.
- I'm pretty sure the post credits is to like, hint at a sequel, or something.
- It could be that the Sam we see in 2024 was abducted from his timeline, and the time he was living in was like, the 90s or some ♥♥♥♥. but then again, he speaks like he's been at this whole thing for a long time, so maybe there's just some fluctuation going on with his age.

i think the hole ending is building up to frank stone joining dbd as a new killer in the close future and possibly Augustine as a survivor. tbf the ending might be hard to understand if you don't know the fundamentals of dbd lore

basically the ending is a DBD lobby, the killer and 4 possible survivors coming to the eternal trials. an infinte loop where they tries to escape a killer.

Post Credit scene just shows its a infinite loop like dbd lore states every trail is. As for sam, itsd a mystery for now, but probably the same way chris got teleported

Thats what I thought this whole game was about, giving a back story to one of their new killers and some lore.

I've only played the demo, but does the story give a good explanation why Frank Stone does the things Franks stone does.

Yeah it's frustrating I don't know much about DbD i'm just a supermassive nerd and like I get the base story that the mill is haunted by Frank but the augustine stuff and the big giant bad at the end i'm so lost. Feels like a sequel needs to explain more cause.

the giant stuff u see at the end is "the entity". It's whole thing in DBD is feeding on despair and torment. Augstine worships it and wants to send a sacrifice to it, which she does

The ending implies, to me atleast, that Augustine is the one that sacrifices all the survivors to the entity making them appear in Dead By Daylight. Her being able to switch realities also makes all the collabs make sense in a canon friendly way too.

Brother I swear I'm trying my best to understand but it feels like they dropped most of the storylines they started mid game.

SPOILER (obviously, read the forum title huh)

For exemple, who is the Old Linda we play ? Or at least, who was she supposed to be ? Based on her reaction to Bonnie's death, it didn't happened like this for her BUT she's still the Linda from the past we play because she has the movie piece and Madi's "power/memories" at the end shows that Linda IS indeed the same, so why the surprised reaction ? Why they also showed Bonnie twice with some sort of "demonic" form through 2 timelines and gave Madi some sort of dream vision or idk what is it but it ends up being useless ? It feels like they wanted to start some stories, like with the necklace too (which had literally 0 impact in the story, at least in my playthrough), but they just gave up to quickly release the game before the next Dead By Daylight chapter release in a few months (which is, let's be honest, based on the ending of this game, a Frank Stone Chapter).

It's just disappointing, I've personally waited for a story game about DBD for so long since I love the original game and "universe" around, but when they release a story game it ends up being even more confusing than without the story. That's just sad at this point.

You know how they're like "why does she want us in this room?" or whatever? the necklace lets her control you in a later scene if you keep it

The necklace was completely forgotten by characters in my run

I hope they add 2024 Linda as a survivor instead. Idk why but something about how she carries herself as a person made her my favorite out of everyone. Not sure if its possible to kill Linda in 2024 either, I put her at risk in a couple decisions and she walked unscathed for me, so it might fit lore-wise? I'm just as confused about why Augustine was brought in from another timeline at the end-credits though.

In the sewers late in the game, you can read his diary and it does talk about trying to fulfil a prophecy for someone, I assume Augustine. He talks about getting rewarded for it in some way and not getting it yet, despite him eliminating people he was told to and listing a bunch of initials. Augustine also does allude to “needing Frank” for something early in the game, so we can probably assume Frank is a pawn of some sort, especially considering the relationship we find out they have later in the game (idk if you want spoilers). I didn’t read all of the lore bits, so there is probably more to it, but that was the most interesting thing I came across.

You can, unfortunately, kill 2024 Linda. I did it twice, first time on accident and second time on purpose. If you choose to flee Madi instead of helping her, she literally gets decapitated. Also, if you have Stan in your group during the watch party scene and help him from being absorbed by Frank, he will grab Linda next and you have the choice of sacrificing Sam or saving her. There are probably more ways you can accidentally get her killed, but yeah. Tbh, 1980s Linda seems way more invincible to me. I don’t remember a scene where she was in great peril (unless it was a camera scene), and her whole survivor look after being saved by Sam and Robert was lowkey awesome. I mean, I could just think it’s funny that she has a black eye in that scene… meaning Frank Stone punched her in the face for some reason. And, as we know, the cameraman always lives.
