UPDATE: The plot thickens. I opened it up on my Steam Deck once more and after a few minutes of noodling around with the environment tiles and undoing said changes, all of my level's environment tiles are reverted to tile #1. I have just flushed roughly four hours down the drain.
Later, I tried playing on Steam Deck + Steam Dock on my TV. On launch, I got a prompt to install an extra package (don’t remember the verbiage, but saw an Unreal logo). I used the touch screen to decline the install and relaunched.
On relaunch, the game loaded without the package prompt but would not recognize my external Bluetooth controller (DualSense) to play on the TV.
FWIW, I am on Steam Deck stable channel.
Loving the game so far, happy to see 21:9 support!
I've exclusively been playing this game on my steam deck and I notice my deck gets reaaally hot and the battery drains very fast too. I usually don't have this with other indie games but with runner it was very noticable.
Next time I'll start playing again when my deck has charged to 100% and let you know how much time I can actually play on a full battery but I don't think I'll make it to 2 hours...
Just my personal experience, I hope you might take a look into it.
Thanks for the awesome game, I really love it! Also loving the way you guys listen to the community. Keep up the good work 😁
(accidentally posted in the feedback thread earlier)
Hey there, I've played almost exclusively on the Steam Deck over many hours. Depending on your quality settings and whether or not you cap the framerate in the OS will have a huge impact on battery life.
With the settings recommended in the pinned post, I get just about 2 hours of play time on a full charge, using about 20 watts of power. Because it's using more power it will heat up more.
If you lower the settings even further by dropping the native resolution and quality settings to low, you'll still have a great experience while reducing the power draw to about 10 watts and get about 4 hours of play time between charges. Dropping it down to 30fps will drop the power draw/heat even more.
The Steam Deck doesn't have a huge battery and the game is running Unreal 5 with fully 3D assets and realtime lighting/shadows, it can be quite demanding. I personally like cranking the settings as high as I can get them while maintaining rock solid framerates but there's always the option to lower the settings to balance power, heat, and performance.
Hope that helps
Thank you! I hadn't noticed the recommended settings the devs had pinned. I'll give it a try and play with the other settings too :)

Seems like there's two spots in the level where it happens.
After relaunching the game, the score was saved so I guess it got stuck somewhere after saving it.
edit: this just happened AGAIN on 3-11 this time. after dying at the first checkpoint enough times, gold stops making sound and eventually all objects disappear.
the same happened to me
Is there a specific location you're bonking at to make this happen? Or does it Jalen randomly between the first and second checkpoints? The bug you're describing sounds like the game's internal position tracker is getting thrown off
actually, it seems to be like this on every level now, here's two more from the Retro level set: https://imgur.com/a/jvTOZN8
