And right now, its 90% discount so even the Gold Edition is cheap.
Games don't go bad; you can buy it now and play it later.
No clue. I have bought the game now, and will play it at some other time.
HOWEVER, I've watched the ACG review, and didn't see any problems for myself. I've also watched the Skill Up review, same result. Could have watched more reviews, but without any obvious red flags other than the "Open World" which both reviewers painted in a positive light, €10 didn't seem like a big risk so I just got it.
As a side note, if you are asking people in the game forum whether they liked the game, most of them will have liked the game. I generally avoid this kind of questions, and turn to neutral reviews instead.
I found the game very enjoyable exactly because of the comedy and the decent writing, cutsey characters and so on. It was a nice change of pace from other games.
The gameplay is rather typical Ubi open world formula with some twists compared to their other games.
Many of the POIs in the open world are a puzzle of some sort. You definitely have to be not averse to solving puzzles or you will get impatient and annoyed with the game very quickly.
IMO, the puzzles were done really well and I enjoyed most of them. Ubi overdid it a little though. There should have either been less puzzles in the open world or a few less Tartaros vaults which are basically separate puzzle/parkour/platforming (mini-)dungeons.
The exploration is fun due to Fenyx' ability to fly and I had lots of fun playing her as a proper girlie character with a glowing pink sword, pink bow and (mostly) pink armor as well as a pink unicorn for a mount :) .
The combat is mostly fun but it gets rather easy once you have some decent skills. The puzzles are the much more challenging part in this game. What can be annoying about the combat is the Typhon's Wrath events where you get attacked randomly while exploring the open world.
These events happened a little too frequently for my taste and they can be quite a nuisance in the early game before you have leveled up some skills. Later on they are but a mere distraction.
On a whole, I personally really enjoyed the game and finished the main game (86% total completion and 94% quest completion) as well as the Myths of the Eastern Realm DLC. It took me just under 100 hours according to Ubi Connect.
The Myths of the Eastern Realm DLC is "more of the same" but smaller and with a different coat of paint while the other two DLCs are isolated standalone experiences.
Other DLCs:
I quite enjoyed parts of the Lost Gods DLC but gave up at some point when it got too grindy. It plays totally different with a top-down perspective.
I also only played partially through the A New God DLC which adds tons more challenging parkour/platforming puzzle levels to the game. I was burned out on puzzles and vaults at that time and those levels were really challenging (exacerbated by the PC controls which require awkward combos for some moves) so I threw in the towel a couple of levels in.
I'd say it's a must-have DLC though for anyone who could not get enough of the puzzles and especially the vaults.
the reason i bought it:
1. i like puzzle, i dont mind having them in open world game. i never experience botw afterall
2. comedy is subjective, and i think i overlooked it.
3. i personally dont have issue with ubi connect or lack of achievement. I buy game whichever store can give decent price (ac odyssey was bought on epic)
4. i didnt buy any game during last steam winter sale (aside from 1 roguelike deckbuilder). so i already have extra budget i didnt use.
5. i dont mind get burned if this game somehow given out for free later on epic, it is opportunity cost (and ac vahalla, watch dogs legion / fc 6 seem less interesting to me)
anyway, thx for you feedback
i hope i got to see if this is really good ubisoft titles (i played many of them already)
and bump this thread so others can read.
This is a really good game. It is a comedy RPG and I am really enjoying the game so far.
Also with all the crap that is happening around the world and in your life, this is one game that really fun and I look forward playing it. There are many parts where I just laugh at the dialogue and humour.
Hats off to the developers and wish I would have nominated them earlier.
I rewatch the demo again, definitely didnt do the game justice.
It had excessive jokes in short 1 hour session.
Definitely become of my recent favourite ubisoft game (I quit AC Odyssey since it was too excessively large & meaningless, maybe i go back in the future) since Im sucker for ubisoft open world formula
Combat is ok, not too hard even on nightmare difficulty once you get couple of upgrades and right combination of gears. Definitely one of those spam 1 skill and abuse your stamina potions.
Exploration & traversal definitely the best, although i really hope some of the mechanic made to the base game (example : dlc2 grapple point). Vault of tartaros mostly are very tricky, but manageable. Only couple of timed puzzle i had to lowered the difficulty.
Gear & progression, weirddly what i considered as "meaningful progression". Meaning you get small parts of upgrade everytime you clear the map marker. Surely there is redundant skins for existing armor, but i look it as 4 different places you can get specific gear.
Characters are very charming (even in the one that didnt manage to pull me in DLC2) had some fun moment / interaction with them. I liked to talk to the NPC in hub once a while to hear their dialogues.
Review for each content :
Base game : Best open world package from ubisoft (another one was AC origins & FC new dawn to me)
DLC 1 : Puzzle intesified, i liked some of the puzzles & new abilities
DLC 2 : Bad first impression, but enjoy toward the end.
DLC 3 : Same, but you can get absurd on power level. Unlimited ability spam.
tl;dr buy if you like ubisoft open world formula.
A solid game for Ubisoft
I wouldn't recommend playing in a DLC.
base game is good but the dlcs suck
