I really enjoy the experience from the very beginning up until the end of the story content.
I've noticed a few people who have skips to the warlords content and most of them are just sitting around the player hubs, hardly doing anything or maybe looking over YouTube for build guides, which are pointless at the very beginning due to the min/maxing and farming, which will take place.
The game is always multiplayer. Safe Houses and your Base of Operations will have other players in them, they're social spaces. Missions have matchmaking and you can group up with strangers or friends whenever. You can answer distress calls to join a player's game and help them out, or send out your own distress to get help from someone else.
Play through the story. You will be left confused and overwhemled when you get into the endgame.
the multiplayer is integrated into the game. You'll see another agents in safe areas, settlements and at The White House. You can also call for backup when you need it, other players can respond and enter your game to help. There is no direct lobby for multiplayer aside from Conflict.
The DarkZones are the primary PvPvE areas of the game which also do not have a lobby. Once you enter a checkpoint, you'll automatically be connected to other players who have entered that DZ
Conflict and Countdown are the only modes in the game that have in a sense a lobby system where you'll have to matchmake with others.
Disagree to an extent. Playing through the main story helps new players understand the gear system, talents and attributes. Forcing players to find better gear and better optimize their build as they progress though the different districts.
[Out of the 4 people who I introduced The Division 2 to, only 1 person continues to play and was the only one who played through the initial story line.
The other three boosted to lvl 30, played the WoNY DLC, then jumped straight into the DZ with no understanding how gear, attributes and talents impact performance. They didn't really understand the lure or setting of the game. They got absolutley demolished in the DZ and they became so overwhelmed to which gear, talents and gear sets to use they ended up putting the game down.]
Too often when new players skip and rush through the WoNY, when they reach the endgame they're overwhelmed by which gear to use or what to do in the open world. The main story serves as a great benchmark not just for gear, but gives players a better understanding to the overall lure and their purpose in the game.
Too add, The Dark Zone discovery missions are great introductory missions to each Zone and I think new players will benefit greatly from playing through them to just gain a better understanding to what happened in each area.
Overall, I don't think new players should really ever consider boosting to level 30 into WoNY.
