Worth it for a new player who will play mostly solo ?
I heard a lot of good things about this game when it came out but didn't manage to buy it back then. Now that it's on Steam and the 9 dollars price tag is way too attracting for me.

However I don't have friends to play with and will play mostly solo, beside it's an MMO that's 4 years old so I doubt the company is preparing any more content or updates. Will this still be a worthy experience for such price ?

Yes , im solo currently. I hear running in the Dark Zone "DZ" the pvp area you will want other players... but the main story and activities you are able to solo.

You can play solo or join a clan there are always people recruiting or use the matchmaking system. You also could always call for backup.. Somebody will come. Might even be me. As for updates this four year old game already has a five year plan with several updates scheduled.

at 9 bucks, its well worth it, and outside 2 raids, you can solo everything else in the game

And there's actually another season on the way with content, alto we don't have a release date on it yet

It should be viewed as mainly a looter shooter with multiplayer capabilities, rather than an MMO. I have played most of my 1100+ hours solo - I would say probably 80% of the time.

But multiplayer mode can be fun, too, because the game scales up the difficulty with more players. And working with others to achieve objectives can be rewarding, as well as seeing how they are rocking creative builds that you've never thought of using.

I would suggest getting the Warlords of New York Edition as the expansion is needed for max level and endgame aspects.

Solo is pretty fun to play! You can do everything you want (besides raids)!

Its fine for solo agents. You can explore the open world, free the city from the gangs, build up your gear and enjoy some nice gunfights and missions. Everything, including bossfights at end of missions is doable solo.
Just for the "endgame" you might want to try multiplayer, if you are into raids and such. But that is optional.

I have played Division 2 mostly solo since release.

After this season ends, Division 2 already has another full year of content, updates and the developers mentioned they want to keep updates coming beyond this year.

When you get into the game I always recommend new players to play the story from the start and not skip to NYC.

If you skip to NYC you will 100% be left confused and overwhelmed in the endgame.

Season 11 is expected soon. It's already going to be on the Public Test Server. Season 10 still has 2 weeks remaining.

If you're serious about it, you really want to spend a little extra and get at least the Warlords of New York Expansion or else you will be soft-locked and stuck in Washington D.C., unable to travel to New York and experience its campaign and you will not be able to participate in Seasons and other endgame content. That requires Level 40 and without Warlords of New York you cannot progress past Level 30.

I played solo on ps4 and enjoyed it. I think there was maybe only one or two missions where I teamed up with people. Otherwise I was alone,

if it was comming in 2 weeks, we would already know about it, Late Feb - Mid March, is more likely to be the release window

edit

Side question, does anyone know if rebuying it on steam, risks screwing up the progress on Uplay?, like i start it the first time from steam, and it treats it like a ''new'' account, without my characters

The story: go here and do this, this and this, shoot enemies and collect gear. I completed both the main game and NY expansion and not once did i know what was going on or why. New bad guys to kill, now here's more bad guys to kill somewhere else. None of it mattered and when the story supposedly ended, i was surprised to learn that it did, because there was no fanfare, no fulfilment, no satisfaction, it just ended with more grind to go and that was fine, as the gameplay loop was enjoyable and the city was immersive and detailed enough to keep playing, that is when you can actually complete things given the bugs which are still there and the incessant crashing that will never be fixed. Hell, i'm still trying to find that woman in white house who has disappeared so i can 'talk to her' to continue the KILL TRIG mission, the bounty in his area of which simply doesn't exist.

Did I say Season 11 was coming in 2 weeks? No, I said Season 10 has 2 weeks until it ends. However, they do state that Season 11 is "quickly approaching". It is already live on the Public Test Server:
