Are enemies bullet sponges in this one?
I really wanted to like the first one, but I like deadly, accuracy-based, realistic looking combat, and that just wasn't an option. Is this one different?

Also, is a stealth/sniper approach possible?

And if I should get it, what version?

Sniper builds are certainly viable, but if what you're looking for is one-tapping everything in sight you will probably be disappointed. It's not substantially different from the first game in that regard.

Enemies arent boolet sponges as long as you have a well-working dmg build according to the difficulty. I for instance melt elite mfers with half my ar mag in Heroic.
Many who argue the game is bad and yadda yadda haven't event played beyond the first 10 hours (I got over 700)

It's a looter shooter or course it's gonna have bullet sponge enemies especially bosses.

If you are looking for more realistic game play this game isn't the right choice. It depends heavily on sponges because otherwise mechanics as gear/weapon talents or their attributes would be completely useless. It is possible to reduce it a bit but not take it away. You will always need a lot of bullets before they are killed, there is no such thing as head shot kills on all enemies in the game. More like shot with 25+ rounds but they're still shooting straight.

On the matter of stealth, you're gonna love this one, fire a shot and the whole neighborhood is alerted, besides that you will find yourself in combat without shots being fired, it's hilarious but you get used to it after awhile. Any version will do except standard.

kinda, but the second game is easier
you can set up ambushes, but no stealth
Yes and no, They are, but they gave them armour plates that if you destroy said plate you can damage their health and they pop relatively quickly, i find that a good solution for an RPG, if you still dislike it play Breakpoint.

Keep in mind that The Division and The Division 2 are RPG shooters. If you're expecting 1 shot headshots with a weapon other than a sniper, you're kidding yourself.

There is also no stealth. Be sure to manage your expectations when getting into the game. It is not a realistic shooter in terms of shooting mechanics. It's a fast paced looter shooter with RPG elements and mechanics.

However, there have been adjustments to the TTK. It's still bullet spongy, but no where near as it was at release.
It also varies on your build and difficulty you play on.

If you do get into the game, I strongly recommend not skipping into the NYC DLC. Play through the story from the start. If you skip to the DLC, you will be confused and overwhelmed when you get into the endgame.

People really got nothing better to do, but sit around, grief and spread their negativity around something they literally don't have to spend time around at all.

This is not a standard shooter, its a looter shooter with different skills and gear sets etc, you can kind of compare it to the Borderlands games.

If you google: division 2 gear sets

you'll find tons of info about it.
