FYI: Free Doctor Home
Probably old news to many, but maybe I'm not the only one who doesn't pay too much attention:

I looked at the ingame store last night and on the main page there was a blank frame with a price of 0, so I bought it and it turned out to be a Doctor Home exotic.
So you might want to get that (obviously, it's one of the few exotics I already had, and it had terrible stats, but at least I could deconstruct it for the exotic thingy used in reconfiguring).

Edit: It's also under the Grants tab in the store.

hmm. I guess you could say that about any gun in the game.
But this one is an exotic, which, for those of us who haven't been playing for that long, is helpful because it means one exotic component.

well I havent been playing for long, just got it on last sale for 5 bucks, why does one need an exotic component? what does it mean to have that? how does that make anything better?
or is it purely the idea of it being "special" ?

no. the gun have some pretty good talents to begin with, could be a good combination with a named set gears that want to play defensive.

You need exotic components to re-roll ('reconfigure') exotics. Usually the third attribute is random, so by re-rolling you have a chance of getting the attribute you want (i.e Damage to Armor rather than Swap Speed, for example).
If the stats on it are really low, you could also re-roll to try to get better ones (bit risky, since that'll also change that third attribute).

And you get exotic components by deconstructing exotics, and I'd guess most people only deconstruct exotics they have duplicates of, so it's not that easy to get the components, especially when you don't have the gear for farming on high difficulty. I don't, so getting a second Doctor Home is useful to me (even more so when it takes 10 seconds to get it).
