best way to farm for the st elmo's engine assault rifle?

I don't think is going to be much help, but If I remember correctly it dropped for me while playing in the open world or in a DZ.

I don't remember exactly which one, but I do know I didn't go out and do anything in particular to get it.

This. It's actually a pretty common drop. I've given away more than I can count, even a few god roll ones that I just don't need.
