I mostly do strongholds in hard/challenging. Maybe the Heroic drop table does you no favor because other exotics will drop more often? No idea but might be worth considering.
I have gotten it multiple times, but can't remember where as I felt NinjaBike Messenger was better for me.
Yeah, I just play on challenging, much more fun that unloading clip after clip into bullet sponges. Seems like the game really does need something in between but that's not going to happen. I'm okay playing on Heroic if I answer a call for help, or occasionally if I get a control point to level 4 but I don't go out of my way to do it. The so-called increased rewards from Heroic story/strongholds are pretty uninspiring given the dramatic 'number go up' of enemies.
Got the Ninjabike as well, and I learned one thing from builds... Removing a backpack from a grouped build, most of the times means removing your ingame nutsack. For a striker build for instance, you really pull the plug on it when removing its backpack, and there are other examples as well. For a hotshot (sniper/skill hybrid) build, things look a lot better.
So don't deem it a silver bullet, it has uses definatily specially for your daily goto roaming build. But look at the pack first you are going to remove.
One tip, I got 4 characters, and usually mats enough (you can buy (cheap) sharing blueprints from inyalah in the white house) for 4 to do weekly mats donations. You can run summit missions for each character as well.
It's not that it doesn't exist, it's how u r going about getting it. I didn't read thru all the comments, so if someone mentioned this, disregard - your chances of an exotic drop of any kind increases dramatically while grouped. And this is where another issue occurs. If u want that rucksack, u have to get a group u can trust, and ideally a lot higher SHD than yourself, Then let everyone know what u want. So not only did u increase the number of enemies and their abilities, but u increased the quality of drops.
Don't take my word for it, try Summit again with an open group setting, directives r not gonna help u much since your focus is gear not XP so don't worry about those - in fact directives risk vs reward isn't worth it as they will just make completing each floor a lot harder and longer. As each person joins your group make it clear what u r looking for and u would appreciate them not 'stealing' it if it drops. Then watch how much different stuff you start picking up. This works open world too.
