Hardcore mode (Again)
Alright, I made a previous post about Hardcore mode, but figured I try to condense the post down a bit.

I think hardcore mode has a tremendous amount of untouched potential for those looking for a less casual experience with The Division 2. With all of the other survival games out, The Division 2 by far has the best setting, lore, environment atmosphere and visuals. (Not saying Division 2 is a survival game btw)

If you're not familar with hardcore mode, it's a permadeath mode with no player Stash. No matter how far you in on the game, when you die, that agent is dead, you have to create a new agent and start completely over as if you're playing the game from the complete beginning.

In it's current state, the mode is fun as hell, but doesn't offer much in player retention. Instead of the mode being a permadeath, re-work the mode so agents lose the gear and weapons they have equipped upon death, in which can not be recovered. Same applies to any gear in the player's bag. Implement a stash with a max capacity of 20 slots. This still allows player to store gear that they can keep if stored if they do die, but also restricts players from hoarding gear.

When a player does get killed, on top of losing their equipped build, they would re spawn with generic, improvised gear and a single primary weapon.

I think these changes would make the mode more appealing for those wanting a less casual, more Tarkov like experience and would also maintain player retention.

Actually, on second thought. Just Implement an option to skip directly to the endgame when creating a new character.(skipping the intro mission and the NYC DLC storyline missions).

Wouldn't be too bad if we could at least start right back into the endgame upon dying. But the option to skip into the endgame should only be allowed for those who have already completed the DLC to begin with.

I like the severity of the consequences upon dying, just don't like having to replay the intro mission or through the NYC DLC again.

The reason hardcore isn't really a thing is because the game will crash at very random moment. You won't know when crash happen and your character died because of it.

Getting killed and losing build is already implemented in the roguelite mode.

The game has so many scrapped idea.
Episodic mission was good before they implement this copy paste repetitive season activity.
Classified area was good activity too, unlike the normal "dungeon" where we just run and gun enemy to last boss.
Gadget skin has potential too.

They also have briliant idea from division 1 that doesnt carry over to division 2. Like the survival mode where you need to manage your toxic level, drink, hunger, all that while trying to survive in heavy blizzard with cold level. Not to mention potential of hostile player.

Heck even mode like dark zone is good idea on paper but it's just not rewarding enough to farm there, since spamming on heroic is more rewarding unless you want dark zone locked gear, which still can be obtained from crate.

Haven't had a crash in a while, but I get what you're saying.

But I think Hardcore mode could use some small adjustments. LIke instead of a permadeath, we just lose the gear we're wearing and the gear in our bag. Then we spawn back with generic, improvised gear and a basic AR. Or at bare minimum, let us skip directly to the endgame if we have already completed the base story line and NYC. That way, we still kinda lose all of our progress, but we at least get to start right back in the endgame again. I really think that would be the absolute best compromise for this mode. I love playing on hardcore mode, getting into the world tiers, but I know if I die, I am not starting all of that over. Again would rather just to be able to start right back off in the endgame.

But, I think hardcore mode should've been more in the direction of Survival from D1 to begin with, with those elements of needing to stay hydrated, toxic levels etc on top of losing your gear when you die. Make the mode more of a Tarkov like experience over it being a permadeath mode.
