Too many Chameleons!

Is it just me, or are 95% of open world exotic drops the Chameleon assault rifle?

I'm not exaggerating when I say this, I must have picked up 25 to 30 of these weapons during my (roughly) 8 months of playing the game.

Today I had 1 chameleon in my inventory (god rolled), and 5 in my stash, and killing a bounty target dropped an exotic, I couldn't tell what exotic it was from a distance, but said to myself "ooh look! another Chameleon." And yes, it was another f@@king Chameleon.

This can't be RNG, It's ridiculous. I've never actually used the weapon either, it's at expertise level 0.....maybe that's something to do with it?.

Before hand i got like 5-6 ish a day of 10hr play.

It was the first exotic I ever got, both on Playstation and PC. I presume that is on purpose. I also presume that the drop rates for different exotics is scaled and some are intentionally rarer than other's.

I hardly ever get exotics in open world, even when doing level 4 CPs or encountering rogue agents or named enemies. I did get a Chameleon the other day during a Herotic Bounty with a rando and I ended up giving it to them.

Chameleon drop place is bountys when it first came out thats why its drops like crazy on them

It could have been Acostas and Mantis as well :) Anyway, you dismantle it, and you’ll need it at some point…but I hope you’ve got all the chameleons, and now the rest of us have a better chance of getting something else, thx bro!

lol i get what your all saying. Im not getting grenade launchers. i go 1 in all my hours. trying to get a gold one, but i only got one drop purple. lol i want a gold one . but if no rng then no fun i suppose haha.

Chameleons are the most common exotic AR drop in the open world also keep in mind the targeted loot area you're in. If you're in an AR target loot area, expect to see more Chameleon drops. lmao.

destroy and use exotics components for expertise. Never complain about getting exotics. you can never get too much of one things.

glad for every exotic drop, at least for components BUT drop rate of CHameleons and Bullet King is waaaaay to high for me ... tryin to get Memento since i came back to game back in last december - Zero-Nada-Nichts ...but i have room full of chameleons and bullet kings XD -... drop rate could be same for every exotic, i would say :/

Glad I'm not the only one to experience this...... I have a memento but I just can't get my hands on the Catharsis mask, that thing never drops in my world, annoying!
