Especially after holding an online presser presenting your new Year 5 (!) content. It should be a matter of honor and principle to put in the immediate effort to fix this.
Bro. Complaining about the maintenance workers going home to resume tomorrow is like taking your car to a garage to get fixed and getting mad the mechanic goes home for the day instead of working until your car is fixed.
That's why I state if it's only happened to "GAME" company. UBI only needs to state the server is down for maintenance, but why it has to mention the employee are off. Does business really go this low nowadays? BTW I am not upset that the server down, I am upset of the work attitude that in the major workforce right now.
If your car is in a garage for repairs, you're telling me it would be bad business practice for the mechanics to go home after working all day instead of working until your car is fully repaired?
Pretty ridiculous expectation. It's not bad business practice. Maintenance workers have a life outside of their job. We can't expect them to work 24/7.
I am not sure where are you living? Of course I will not ask them to repair the car overtime, but I will be automatic provided loaner car or ride. That's why I mentioned fail over server.
I mean I get what you're saying dude, but there's no excuse for this and that month long shutdown that you mentioned, shouldn't have happened, period.
The issue, is that this game is a $80 console game that just got it's online cut for a time, and as such just became a paperweight. Anyone who doesn't get it, can now deal with the fact that this $80 dollar game can die at any time for any reason with nothing more than a thank for your business from Ubisoft.
I mean, it is what it is, but there is no defense for these types of practices. Even MMO studios don't go this far.
If you wouldn't expect a mechanic to work overtime to fix your car, why would you expect maintenance works to work overtime to fix a server outage.
Just like you'd get a loaner car, you can go and play a different game. The servers get fixed when they get fixed. Severs will probably be back up in the next 12 hours. This isn't the first time a game experienced a sever outage and it won't be the last. People need to learn to relax.
The servers are up and running, but the online capability for this game's is turned off. Much like the last time, the game simply needed to be reverted to the patch prior. People would still be able to play while they work on ways to fix the current patch, at their leisure. Get it?
edit:
In any case, I'll stop there and simply agree to disagree with you.
I grew up playing Socom. Socom released in 2002 and had PvP multiplayer. Socom II released in 2003 and also had PvP multiplayer and I remember their online services having outages, especially on weekends.
I have experienced online outages before in games since PS2, some even lasted days at a time. Rainbow Six Siege a few years ago was literally unplayable for over two months because of so many people DDoS'ing. It was annoying, but I just went and played another game until it gotten straightened out. I just don't see justification over getting mad that the maintenance workers just went home for the day or saying it's bad practice. I'd find it bad practice if Ubisoft forced their workers to stay until it was fixed. They're people with lives outside of their job, we can't expect them to just work until the issue is fixed.
I don't think the example you gave is appropriate or even comparable, but anyway I understand your point, I won't say anymore but I will keep my opinion
I mean. I guess. IDK. It gets fixed when it gets fixed. I'll just play Cities Skylines until we can connect again.
I'll say this, if we were paying a monthly subscription fee to access the game, like Xbox Live, or WoW or PS +, if we were having to pay $X a month to play Division 2, then yeah, i'd find it ridiculous that they just called it a day, other than that, it's whatever.
