Your nameplate only showed up after you go rogue or engage in pvp combat since it actually gives you the option of stealth / ducking a fight against a rogue group when playing solo. Obviously, pulse should still reveal your position but a System Corruption build would actually become viable since it allows for 100% pulse resistance.

I can't really come up with any reason why your nameplate HAS to show all the time.

PvP should be able to turn off completely do not like the crap.
I've only been in the Darkzone once because of the story, but I probably wouldn't have used it.
I avoid PvP especially in such games where you as a normal player no chance against other players.

Darkzone is the fastest way to upgrade your character as the game rewards the clearing of a landmark with the same amount of XP as playing a mission on Heroic difficulty in the main game. You can literally rank up in well under half the time.

Also the best gear pieces are limited to the DZ. You kind of have to play DZ if you want the best gear.

I don't mind the fact others are in there, only adds to the tension really. I just hate the fact it's effortless for groups to pick off solo players because of the damn nameplate hovering over your head.

If you could switch the darkzone as a pure PvE would be very likely also fun but not the other experienced players one on the running band umnietet is not fun.

I don't care how fast you level up or get good items if it's not fun - that was already the case in The Division 1.

Other than Yaahl gear there's nothing you can't get else where. All DZ named items can be gotten from named caches and the DZ exotic LMG Pestilence was added to the open worlds loot pool years ago.

The stealthiest loadout I've made for DZ is System Corruption with 100% pulse resistance.

I throw in Nightwatch mask to spam pulse myself and it's kinda funny to just stalk Rogues and freak them out with my pulse. The downside is with so many mods and stats focused on stealth, it tanks my own combat efficacy. The becomes another liability because the longer it takes for you to kill NPCs, the more time you give others to locate and gank you mid fight.

Yes what I have heard you get this only in the DZ
and if you had it once it comes then also in the Lootpol
