I went from a crash or freeze every once in awhile to crashing or freezing once or twice per hopping on. As far as fixes, we'll see I guess. They're offering compensation, so clearly they are aware of the issues.
edit:
Of course, from what my friends have told me. This has been going on on consoles for a very long time.
In my case I had like 6-7 crashes in all my playtime.
I think that it depends in multiple things like what hardware do you have and the activity that you are doing.
Anyway, if you buy the game with the expansion be sure to complete the dark zone recon before playing the expansión, if not you will have them bug and you will be unable to go in all the DZs.
I have 2k+ hours. It's really not that bad. I crash maybe once a week if that. The only time it will 100% crash or freeze is when the game launches in Window Mode, it will freeze when I change to full screen and that's the only time I'll freeze for a while.
Even if it does freeze, it takes less than a minute to re-launch. The Division 2 is a great game and I would not let what others say about them discourage you from getting into it.
Now the issue that came up the other week about crashing, yes THAT was bad. Ubisoft published a statement saying that the game encountered a critial error when they ended Season 10 in which almost the entire player base was crashing and the game was down for about 3 days, but this has been resolved.
If you do get the game, be sure to disable Direct X12 rendering in the settings and play through the base story line and DO NOT skip into the NYC DLC.
My impression is that the game is either failing to load assets or suffering some kind of script crash in the background. It seems like the new development team are not so much "ignoring" the issue as they seem unable to fix it.
Ubisoft identified the issue a few months ago and mentioned it's an error with Server/Client communication on their end.
When there's a dsync between the server and client, the game will freeze or crash.
They also mentioned "10 fixes" for that issue in one of the recent patches, though, so there may be something else going on. Would explain why I seem to crash more often teaming with friends from Australia, though.
Not too sure. The crashing isn't bad enough to not recommend Division 2 IMO.
Photoshop has been out for over 20 years and still crashes on me. Software and game crashes should be expected, just like our cars will break down at some point.
If it bothers you that bad don't play it IDK. Games crash, it's not a life ruining experience, move on.
Not too sure where people today have gained this expectation where games and software aren't going to crash.
There's normal bugs, glitches, freezes, and crashes and then there's this situation with this game, and this situation should not be normalized.
That's the nature of Live Services. New content has the potential to introduce new bugs. Although to be fair - a bug that serious going unsolved for that long IS a very bad look. The last time the game crashed on me, it fully locked-up my system.
