You telling me that's a problem that money can't solve?
Making a game is expensive per se. If you want to add an extra cost by renting an engine while you have Unreal... I dont know. It is not only about money... An engine is not the usual software but something quite more complex and it is usually tailored to fit the needs of the dev team. It is not something of general purpose but a specific one.
The idea of bulding an engine is to make something that allows you to work the way you want with the hardware you want to use. It is not that simple. I dont know how restrictive snowdrop engine is but I would not bet for it to be "plug-and-play".
It's not always going to be a typical C++, Python or Lua for example.
But as Ruvvens's mentioned, there is Unreal Engine, which is free for developers to use and I imagine pretty easy to use, if a lot of studios and indie studios are using it. The same for Unity as well.
But I do like the Snowdrop engine.
Yeah, Ubisoft is going all in with the star wars game. A No Man's Sky concept with the Star Wars franchise lore. It is a lot and in the light of recent, and not so recent, events I dont think they will deliver. But I do like nice surprises though.
But engeneering that is quite a deed. It is not only lasers but also lasers fired from spaceships :D
I am curious, not gonna lie, about Coruscant. Coding such a planet has to be a dream and also the very fabric of nightmares.
