When you install via Uplay, you will also download the latest version of EAC, prior to logging into the game itself.

I don't understand why you require EAC files directly.

Well it's kinda common that Linux will not be officially supported and you'll need to do work arounds to get access and then hope you don't get banned in the process for doing something weird.

If I knew he was talking about Linux, then I would have replied differently at the beginning.

Linux just got official support, but only on Steam. For us who own the game on Ubisoft Connect/uPlay (hi!) we can't play on our Steam Decks because we can't download the Linux patched version on Ubisoft Connect.

I just never really understood the reason behind Linux and gaming. It's the same when people buy a Mac for gaming.

Go to your Steam Library and on the left side where the search box is type in Proton EasyAntiCheat. It should result in the Proton EasyAntiCheat being shown. Install it and you should be good to go.

I've installed Proton EAC and the game, Steam says Div2 is running, but.. nothing. In the proton log it very quickly throws an exception. ubisoft connect won't even launch. Div 1 connect launches and that game plays fine.

EDIT: IT LIVES! I did a full system update (arch linux, custom built rig) rebooted and I'm in game now!

For me the game takes almost 20 seconds to start running and going full screen. You should also get a small window that pops up asking you to login to your ubisoft account and if you want to link your steam account. After that it should just auto login the next time you launch the game.

Side note, I noticed if I try and use the Ubisoft overlay I can't back out of it. I'm not sure if it is conflicting with the steam overlay or not. Also, when exiting the game it continues to run in the background in a small wine window in the top left corner of my screen. I have to go into my library to force quit it.

My specs in case you are wondering what distro, kernal, and nvidia driver version I am running.

OS: Fedora Linux 37 (Workstation Edition)
Kernal: 6.1.6-200.fc37.x86_64
CPU: Intel i9-10850K (20) @ 3.6GHz up to 5.2GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080
NVIDIA Driver: 525.78.01
Memory: 16GB of DDR4 @ 3600Mhz
Motherboard: ROG STRIX Z490-A GAMING (BIOS 2601)
Resolution: 3440x1440
Storage: NVME

I just never really understood the reason behind Linux and gaming. It's the same when people buy a Mac for gaming.
More and more folks are rather just looking for "not Windows" options for PC gaming these days and MacOS is obviously not the choice still.

I have basically no issue with Windows 10 anymore now that the OS has reached its final stabilized state but there's no deny that 10 as an OS is bloated to hell with background operations and routines in terms of gaming purposes. 11 fairs no better in this area and the only enticing DirectStorage feature is years away to be popular within the game developing industry. 12 is rumored to be in development already but this is MS we're talking about here, can you honestly think it'll be any different down the road?

A Linux distro is the only true light weight gaming OS available to the mass public at the moment and has a shot at tapping the fullest potential of our hardware. However by having all the diehards constantly bicker among themselves the distro that should come out on top and take lead, it just makes things look even worse to outsiders who can't give a damn less about Linux already in the first place. At least they can all agree on Proton for now.

I'm pretty sure people don't buy a Mac for gaming. Linux is just another option for those who wish to have full control of their systems and not have a Corporation decide for them.

There is a reason Valve is pushing for Linux gaming.
