Also, does that mean that in theory you can leave Sai in his cage? With the lockpicks you had to free him, so unlike other things I didn't vary this in my walkthroughs.
I tried it and yes, you can leave sai in the cage, but he comes back after we defeat miss knives (before burning all the items and fighting with miss knives, i checked the cage area and he wasn't there, which means he probably managed to escape the cage alone somehow) basically nothing changed except for short dialouge where sai asks us if we defeated miss knives, and tells us to not leave him in the cage next time.
In the save files it's visible that the game remembers a lot of choices, I imagine this is one which will be remembered when starting chapter 2 from a chapter 1 save. If the game will later make events/choices dependent on relations with characters, this must make a difference.
