The Mystery of The Escape Pod
Why does it bug out when we try to get into it? Is there any possible way to activate it correctly? Where did the Narrator go? We must solve this mystery!

Alright guys, I'm gonna do a little update with all the findings I've found in the console that deal with the in-game files. Here it goes:
  • Now the very first sign of things getting bugging is when you juke out the door and it locks you out. You're given the message "[Sound] S_StartSound(): Failed to load sound 'narrator\boss_2.wav'. Can't create mixer." Meaning the narrator's sound file could not be played. This is when the narrator "leaves" you.
    [Sound] S_StartSound(): Failed to load sound 'narrator\boss_2.wav'. Can't create mixer.
  • You're given the message "CSceneEntity BC_1 unable to find actor named "narrator" when you walk into the broom closet, meaning that the narrator's speech really has been disabled. Same with the 417 hallway dialogue.
  • As we back track to the open door and spawn in the next map, we see that this map is named "redstair", and it is missing these files: cfg\cpu_level_1_pc.ekv, cfg\gpu_level_1_pc.ekv, cfg\mem_level_2_pc.ekv, and cfg\gpu_mem_level_1_pc.ekv
  • As you walk through the door on floor 760, you're given these error messages:
    "Late precache of World.CoopElevatorDoorOpen
    [Sound] S_StartSound(): Failed to load sound ')plats\mp_coop_elevator_door_open.wav'. Can't create mixer.
    Late precache of World.RobotHydraulicsOpen20f
    [Sound] S_StartSound(): Failed to load sound ')world\robot_parts\robot_hydraulics_open_pitched_20f_04.wav'. Can't create mixer."
    The sound files for the escape pod were not found, explaining why it is dead silent when it comes up.
  • Finally, as you go through the escape pod and start over, you're given the message "Using outdated reload syntax! FIX ME WILLIAM!!!" which is our biggest hint that this is all just a huge bug...
Just wanted to throw all of this out there for anyone to see. And if you're curious, you can easily spawn yourself into that area by going into the console and typing "map_commentary redstair"

There still is something just not right. For example every floor has a window. And every window just shows the same image of the room right after Stanley's office.
Ask Google about the linked_portal_door entity.

I'm only speaking about it not beeing logical. Even for STP. It just seems odd to me.

Can be done with prop_dynamic_create props_parable/escapepod to place it, and ent_fire !picker addoutput "angles 0 YAW 0" where YAW is the rotation angle in degrees. You have to look directly at the pod for the second command to work. (hint: crosshair 1

I myself don't ave the game yet ): And I probably won't till next week.

If only there was some logical way to bring the narrator with you to the escape pod. Wouldn't that be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ if it's just pretending to be bugged.

Maybe we should try to figure out when this actually opens.

I know everyone goes back after entering the boss' office, but does it open at any time before then?

And is this also connected to the useless elevator? If I remember correctly, I was able to enter the elevator before heading to the escape pod. Can we bring the narrator there, too?
I really really think that you can do this, if you can somehow get the Lift to the Mind Control Room to go down without you on it! If we can figure out how to do that, I think the Narrator will basically say "Well, Go back to your office, we're going to restart", and then you can enter the elevator with him, and get to the Escape Pod, together.

The doors leading to the staircase open up when you go bo back after entering the boss' office. I would be REALLY suprised if there was nothing more to be found about that escape pod.

Also, the fact that if you through the right door, through the lounge and go back on the track through the maintance room, go into boss' office and leave it to go towards the escape pod ending, then the door leading into the first choice room will actually close in front of you.
Although, as I said before, it might be because the game actually think that you're coming from the other side, and just closes the door so you can't go back.
It'd be nice to get a yes/no from Gran wether this is a bug, or not, but I doubt it'll happen. :)

The typo also needs to be pointed out in case it's a clue. Very well might not be.
... Oh, my gosh guys... I just got a brainstorm idea from thinking about it!

Okay, to get to the Escape Pod ending normally, the door near Stanley's Office is open and thats how you get there... What if you "hack" the game, and remove that door before going anywhere?! Maybe then you can get to the Escape Pod ending with the Narrator!

Someone who can "Hack", try this!

Of course, someone has also noted that the number 3 could be significant. However, wasn't that sign just on the third floor?
