AVG detects stanley.exe as a virus. Is this happening for anyone else?

Don't use AVG. It is full of false positives and I'm suprised AVG didn't tell you Steam is a virus witch happened to some people.

A virus witch!? Burn her!

It happened to me too. Never had it detect a game like that before. Just tell AVG its all ok and it will shut up.

AVG tends to be a bit too sensitive in its detection methods. Trust me, Valve would never let a game on steam with a virus in it.

You'd be better off with a fake anti-virus than AVG.

I'm using Kaspersky now, but I used to use AVG back when I first switched to 64-bit WinXP. There's nothing wrong with it. It's a quality AV/firewall. Much better to be extra secure than not secure enough.

Is that so? They would let games that break copyright and consumer right laws on Steam. They seemed quite happy using a crack from Pirate bay. They only cared once the public (us consumers) made a fuss about it.

OP, make an expection for it in the AV settings but deny it firewall access, even if it hasn't asked yet. It shouldn't have any over bearing effects on Steam/achivements.

What game? I think you might be thinking of GOG, not Steam.

and this is why i don't use av software anymore; does more harm than good, common sense is enough to protect you imho

Nope, He's thinking of Steam. The Steam versions of both Max Payne 2 and Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 used cracked EXEs at one point because Rockstar and Ubisoft were too lazy to remove their own DRM.

Yes, Stanley Parable contains 8 viruses. Uninstall.
