It's just to trip you out and make you think there's something you can do to save yourself. But even the creator of the game confirmed that they're all meaningless. I still like to run up the stairs and press the 4.

You know i noticed something, all the programmers say that theres no scripts (other than sounds and modal animations) connected to any of the buttons. Thats ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Because theres 4 computers lined up with 4 buttons each, and it makes it look like you suppose to be typing in a code there, and so the color you chose appers on that moniter screen, which would require, activation scripts, deactivation scripts, texture changing scripts, so on.
