What the hell is steamservice.exe?
Hello, I downloaded this game and played for the first time, and when it launched, Windows asked me to give a program called steamservice.exe permissions to modify things in the hard drive. Should I press Yes or No? I pressed No and everything was fine and the game launched but I dont know if it will appear again. If it appears again what should I press? Yes or No?

SteamService handles installscripts iirc (installing DX, VS redistributables etc) -- if you clicked 'no' it most likely did not install the DirectX redistributables. If the game worked for you that's kewl, but it'll probably bug you about it every time you start it up.

Yes, it bugs me A LOT, is there anyway to stop this?

I wish! A long long time ago, before I was working on Stanley Parable, I was working on some sort of steam extension framework that had a feature to disable installscripts altogether, but I don't really have the time anymore.

Choose yes and it should stop. If it doesn't then... I don't know...

Well, guessing that since it was automatically launched from Steam I'd say no. Besides, my computer didn't get bricked when I pressed "Yes"

Several games have this service, it's nothing to worry about. But if this is your broom closet, just disable UAC or add total control permissions for your user in the folder where the application is located. (later is recommended)

This executable is still not digitally signed which doesn't reflect well on Steam for distributing it like this.

Ehh.. stop the service from starting up I guess.

If the SteamService.exe is just bugging you and you want it to stop, then:

1. Start "Services.msc" from the Run in Startmenu (press WinKey+R to open Run).
2. Find "Steam Client Service" and doubleclick it.
3. Click "Stop" to stop the service.
4. Choose "Disabled" from the Startup Type dropdown, to prevent it from starting again.

WARNING: This procedure is NOT RECOMMENDED if you install new games often.
And is indeed not recommended if you forget how to enable the service again.

DISCLAIMER: I do not know if by disabling the Steam Client Service will cause any problems on your computer, and is not responsible for any damage due to this procedure.

Other than that... cheers! (not tested for compatibility errors that might occur on prolonged use)

Hey, I have trouble with my computer giving me this message on CS:GO, but when I clicked No, my game didn't start. How do I make it start without typing in the Admin password?
