I might do it on a virtual machine if there were no other options but since you can unlock the unachievable achievement using a command and the "don't play for 5 years" achievement changing the computer clock I bet there's a way to do it that nobody has found yet.
It's a pity because the game is epic, but this little achievement alone has bothered me so much it went down in my library from "Awesome games" to "Good games". MIght sound stupid but these details are very important to me.
1. You can open the console and enter the following command:
(<install path> is the folder where you installed steam). Delete "config.cfg" and it should work.
Either of those should help you
There's a fine line between clever use of the system resources and modifying games. I don't modify games to get achievements (that's pointless for me and it doesn't look very legal either).
What I seek as an achievement hunter is a clever way to do it in an unexpected way that's easier than it looks by itself. For example, there's this achievement where you literally have to stop playing for 5 straight years before playing the game again. There's also that one where doing a random thing in the game grants you a random chance (not even 100%!) to unlock it. Those 2 achievements were designed by monkeys on steroids, no offense.
An achievement is a reward for feats of strength, deeds that deserve to be remembered, or simply for your patience (see that achievement about clicking a door 5 times), and asking people to do some really stupid thing (seriously devs, WTF were you thinking?) that deserves no recognition at all.
All I want is a way to do it without having to let the computer run for a whole damn day for no reason, but I will never use cheating programs.
I hope you have realized by now that this was the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ POINT OF THE JOKE! The Stanley Parable is a satire of games, and their stories/achievements! IT'S NOT LIKE OTHER GAMES AND IS SUPPOSED TO BE THIS WAY!
