Unachievable in 2021

What is the story with this achievement, is it broken on Steam?
I see loads of comments from people playing on Epic saying they've achieved it randomly after about fifteen minutes of gameplay.

Has anyone earned it the legit way through Steam lately?
11 hours of playing here and no sign of it yet.

there is no legit way. i played 51 hours, replayed all the endings at least twice and nothing. here are your option.
-play until it pops up randomly
-use console commands

Playing until it pops is the legit way in my opinion, but I don't think it's random. There has to be some sort of activator.

yes and no. people had it pop up during certain circumstances. Originally it was done by simply reloading the game but since then the dev made it more cryptic by saying "it's almost random". Everyone has had a different situation in which it popped up, so all that can be said is they either all have something in common, or it's purely rng. but like i said 51 hours in and nothing. others, less than 10. i come back every so often and mess around a bit so if i get it to pop up, i'll post it. but i doubt anything can be deciphered
from it.

I'm wondering if it's actually bugged on the Steam version, seeing as so many people are achieving it almost right away on the Epic version.

I get Unachievable now, just press "x" and play. I not edit config, but it have "bind x" already

I don't understand what you're saying. You didn't use the notepad method but you did before?

FistyMart, sorry my English. I mean, I wanted to add "bind x", opened the config, but it was already there. Check your config in "The Stanley Parable\thestanleyparable\cfg\config.cfg"

No worries! So you just pressed x randomly and walked around and got the achievement? Was it on the Steam version?

Yes. In Steam version. I got all other achievments and "Unachievable" was last. Try too

me too, play every now and then to see if i randomly get it. 53 hours later, nope. I think we'll never get it because we're trying to. ive seen new players get it randomly

The dev probably intended to make this unachievable achievement unachievable, trolling the players and making us reconsider what achievements are about like the other messages they convey through the play. They intentionally give random players this achievement to make the other confused and mad. I would say just go with the "bind x" way if you want the achievement, because, considering what this game (or artwork, or whatever people want to call it) is about, there is really nothing legit or not.

From what I read elsewhere, it seems the developer is having fun changing the goalpost for this achievement once someone figures it out and post the solution. If that's the case, I would agree, whatever you do to get this achievement is legit.
