After diving in to the Halls of Torment, I can say it is an absolute blast! The art style is beautiful with its 2.5 D styling. There are a nice selection of characters, each with their own type of combat (i.e. warlock that uses summons to damage). I enjoy how you upgrade your character by using the well system to retrieve pieces of gear as you progress the stages. The abilities are tons of fun to use, and they each have their place in the progression. The music is great, I felt myself becoming entranced as I was playing because the musical score fits very well in to the stages. The only downside, and it is not really that bad at all, is when there is a lot going on in the stage, the audio tends to get choppy due to all the skills being used. Overall, Halls of Torment has managed to suck me in with its art, music and ability combos! I would recommend this game to fellow gamers who enjoy the auto battler style games! Enjoy.

Game is sick

Good bullet hell game, better than its peers.

One of the few Survivors-like titles to actually stand out enough and achieve something unique, as opposed to just a developer saying "I want a piece of the pie too". As usual for the subgenre, the value per dollar is off the charts, and this one has a really interesting gear system. While the visual style starts out seemingly a little sparse, it gets extremely good as you start to unlock characters and progress further. Easy buy.

Solid survival game with great nostalgic value for fans of classic Diablo-likes

TLDR: I play this game on Steam Deck to fall asleep and I'm not even joking.
It's incredibly slow paced and it does not captivate due to it's very shallow difficulty.

The game loop in itself is nice and 'akin' to Vampire Survivors. Lots of enemies to slay that walk towards you and pose a threat or are just meat. Gold drops which you collect. There's some 'puzzles' scattered in the maps that you may be able to solve if you can bother.

What I like what this game does is the challenges that reveal over time like a skill tree - but this should be displayed more prominently when entering a dungeon so you know what task is at hand.

My biggest con with this game, and that's also the reason why I play it to fall asleep, is that it's slow. It's so slow. It doesn't engage you as you walk around the map hearing the gold jingle and kill sounds, the only thing that makes my sleepy eyes open is when I hear myself getting hit. That's also when I look at the timer "6 minutes left..." so I doze off halfway while walking in a circle and wait for the boss to appear so I can put the Steam Deck away and go sleep.
There's no way (that I know of, besides Cheat Engine on PC) to speed up the game. The only enemies that pose a threat are those that shoot or leave puddles on the floor (if you're half or completely asleep).

I would much rather have this game be significantly harder. Brutally hard so that it's hardly possible to reach the end of the timer for the boss to appear, so that it captivates and you need to stay on edge to not make the wrong call. I dunno. I just personally find this the most boring game I've played and I've played quite a few. But it's a good sleep aid at least

It's like vampire survivors but bad and you only get like 1 weapon for 30 minutes. Buy deep rock galactic survivors instead.
