But it might also be with just 1 Morning Star projectile because I just ran into the ghost wall for 20 minutes and it counted maybe 20 times.
Character: Shieldmaiden. The shieldmaiden doesn't have a lot of DPS so your ball will hit a ton of enemies with each cast thanks to that.
What to pick: Anything that gives force
Pick any stage with MASSIVE amounts of enemies in agony mode. The Haunted Caverns were perfect for me. If you have the skills that make the Morning Star move in a butterfly pattern instead of just 8 it helps a ton. Multstrike can help too.
This was correct. You need to hit 40 enemies with 1 cycle of the ability; repeated 100 times in a single run.
So you want to increase the area etc of the ability, not increase damage.
If you're having trouble with that aspect of it, definitely go for the Morning Star's 'Chain' trait at rank III, VI, and X. It increases base range and angle size, so it should make each morning star attack hit a larger overall area.
I'd also try to do the run with Morning Star only, so its not competing with other abilities for hits and kills. I got it on the first hall with Morning Star only and a couple Chain traits. And played Sage, so had things like Spread weapon proficiency increasing the range further.
Multistar - Handle - Chain - Handle - Multistar -
Chain - Multistar - Handle - Multistar - Chain
If you pick both Upgrades, you will have alot of Stars almost 360 around you, where the Chain can also hit. in the later waves you will hit so many enemies at once, it will be way more than 40 per cycle.
If you unsure if its enough, you can walk over to the Ghost Wall on Forgotten Viaduct and stand beside.
This was the one I was able to get it with, but really appreciate all the help and tips that u came up with here.
Doing Frozen Caverns or the new map is just a terrible plan for any "# of enemies" type of achievements.
I think I saw devs saying that ghost wall no longer counts but am not 100% sure. Anyway, try it with Shieldmaiden on First map Agony, taking only the Morningstar spell, taking only Force, Area, Range traits along with defensive ones, then all Morningstar traits except damage and you should be able to do it. Also turn off autoattack when you are sure u will be able to stay alive just with shield bash and the spell itself.
