Sage - is the first ability not actually an "ability"

Sage gets weapon proficiency traits/upgrades that benefit either "Main Weapon" or "Abilities". The ability ones are VERY powerful, like 50% crit upgrade, crit bonus, 50% damage (with downsides). It stands to reason that if his first chosen ability is actually his "main weapon" that these are branching paths. But has anyone tested if those "Ability" bonuses actually stack for his first ability (main weapon)?

Implication is you're either going for completely kitting out the main weapon, stacking memoried bonuses, etc. i.e. "Going tall." Or if those ability bonuses only affect NON-main weapon abilities, "going wide" by choosing something initially but actually focusing on a few additional abilities that will benefit more from those upgrades than his intrinsic 50%+ damage on the main weapon at the start.

Spellcaster gloves will always grant their bonus when equipped by the sage.

Yeah, Spellcaster gloves help, but when you look at the multipliers for your damage, you quickly find out that said 66%, doesn't usually contribute that much to your damage, even as Sage.

sage 1st pick is BOTH main weapon AND also an ability
2nd pick is normal ability
ie with the spectral fist u will want to be doubling the modifier conversion almost always
