I think haunted Caverns is the best place indeed.
If you pick the Sage and Double his "Open Mind I+II"
(or use it with his Class mark on any Char)
and you use the "Longfinger Gloves",
you can also make laps around the Well to destroy all breakables and collect the gold.
For more Pickup Range "Uncommon Elven Slippers (Gahtering)"
You definetly want Ring Blades, Arcane Splinters.
One Ability that helps you to "clear" a path or a strong Main Weapon.
Ring Blades will crush everything that can break and your insane pickup range will deliver it easy to you.
Only important thing, you always should be 1-2 screens away from the Well,
so breakables have enough time/room to respawn.
Cheers!
However, it comes with a massive caveat. That is, you must be able to kill the ghost wall, and in a reasonable timeframe.
Each ghost will drop a large gold bag (in addition to radiant gold XP bricks). If you can kill the entire ghost wall (both the one at top and bottom) and still manage to get a reasonable score overall, then you'll rake home 25k+ gold every run.
You can gain even more, by oblivioning as much as possible so you hit fallback traits early. This allows you to take bonus gold from as early as level 55. Do not sacrifice your overall clear speed for it though, as this is far more important.
Pretty easy to forget about it these days. The glory days of when it was actually significant to kill are gone now :(
Totally valid strategy!
Sadly those elites that drop a massive ring of gold are quite rare, but I caught one in my latest run:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3344716289
which resulted in runs giving me in a range of : 40+ - just bit over 50k gold
here is an example :
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3344234111
and the elites that drop big rings of gold get less rare if your torment lvl goes up
i settled on 20 - 22 cause the rest of the modifiers are just unfun or make the run harderr then it needs to be
That's huge!
Good to know. Is there a way to check the torment score mid run?
thats what i meant, well not enough coffee or being an idiot blame one of those 2
anyway : currently i run with 20, and i see ALOT of (whatever drops those big piles of gold as in a honestly dont know what drops them but i see alot of gold piles in my run ... :D)
torment level = the number on the horned skull in the shrine
torment score= the meaningless number at the end of the run
(not totally meaningless but more or less , bigger number = abit more gold
but just compare my screenshot with yours and you see it is more or less NOTHING)
The higher Agony/Torment Rank the more escalation.
Oh great point! I was doing 20+ artifact runs earlier but I didn't take note of how much money I was getting.
