What to prioritize when levelling up? And how does Potion of Oblivion work?
The first question is kind of clear, I'm mostly wondering what is best to prioritize when levelling up. At the moment, the thing I almost always choose is the weapon upgrade (the one that's unique to the character and usually has two bonuses or one large on), they seem very good. The character upgrade (the unique one that's mostly for passive/defensive bonuses) I sometimes choose. Then comes Strength, Crit Chance, Multistrike and maybe Force.

I'm looking for thoughts on this mindset and if I'm missing something important.

The second thing is, how does Potion of Oblivion work with the character traits? I know that there are variants, but if I use Potion of Oblivion does it banish only the variant or the entire character/weapon upgrade along with its variants?

Any extra useful tips would be really helpful.

"I seem to run out of wines so fast and still can't secure the traits I want. What am i doing wrong?"

It will give you a lot of good tips.

Oblivion potions will remove any traits that share that name from the trait pool. So with character traits it will remove all similar traits (one variant), but not all of them. It is possible to oblivion an entire tier and lock yourself out of future tiers, so take care not to spam it.

Hi,

Potions of Oblivion will bansih the selceted branch of a Trait and will remove Traits that have only one branch.
Example:
Swordsman - Weapon Proficiency I (Coverage)
banishing this Trait will remove Weapon Proficiency II-IV (Coverage) as well
Astronomer's Orbs - Mass I
banishing this Trait will remove Mass III, V, VII, IX as well
banishing Swift Feet Tier I will remove Tier II-V as well.

If you banish a Tier V Trait, all other Traits are gone for this character.
Elemental Surge any banished Trait will banish the others.
Ethereal Shift A + B are sepperated fro meach other,
but banishing one Ethereal Shift A will remove both other As as well.

When to pick what is a very individuell situation and depends not only on the build,
it depends on your playstyle as well.

I normaly focus on
Character Traits > Ability Traits > Movement Speed > Pickup Range > Attack Speed
> Damage > Defense
Mostly Vitality, Metabolism, Parry, Thick Hide and Bulwark are instant banishes for me though.

Some interesting info on this topic can be found in
the category: "Hero Level Trait Locks" and "Ability Upgrades"

Cheers!

Thank you, that was helpful. Apparently I wasn't using the potions effectively.

Why does Banishing Tier V banish everything? Is there only one variant?

Also, how can you do without Regen? I almost always pick regen otherwise I have nothing to heal with. Even the blood-soaked shirt doesn't give decent healing.

I think this was a choice, if you dont want to use any Tier V Trait, you dont have to use multiple banish Potions to scrap it.
All 5 Trait Varaints are linked together and you can only pick multiple with memory Potions.

If you use another Class Mark, e.g. Character Sage with Mark of Cleric,
you get the chance to pick 1 of the 5 Sage Tier V Traits AND 3 Cleric Tier V Traits.
Weapon Proficiency Tier V is always only char exclusive.

This is what i meant with individual playstyle.
i am so used to banish defense when it doesnt deal damage in any way,
so my only source of defense is avoiding damage.

All enemies are predictable in their movement pattern and most of the time you can outmaneuver them or kite them around Walls, Corners or Pillars to slow them down.
Spike Boots are the biggest help vs the random Champions, since you never know what the game will throw at you.

Edit: A recent example for DMG taken vs Healing
took 6.215 damage, whle the majority is from standing afk around in the last minutes

Blood Soaked Shirt healed 1.3k and Blood Catcher potentially 61k+

Wait, so if I oblivion, say Ring Blades II (ripping), will it also remove Ring Blades II (big) and Ring Blades II (fast)? If true, that's terrible.

No.
If you banish Ripping II, you will remove Ripping IV, V, VII, VIII and X as well.
Big and Fast will stay untouched.
