I tried the whole day off to get this and failed with all extra spawns artifacts. I think this achievement is a bit overtuned.

Btw not a single skeleton was harmed when I experimented my build
never heard of this before, but now i am curious.
Where does this come from?

No. This isn't a thing.
HOWEVER... (yes there is a but)...
TL;DR
Big Spam = Less Enemies
More Info
Spawn rate is tied to the internal frame rate (I'm going to call it tick speed from here on) of the game engine (THIS IS NOT YOUR FPS). Enemies are spawned at a set amount every tick up until their capped amount for that wave. The game will try to run at 60ticks per second. This is the maximum it will do.
If you have a lot happening on your screen (Particularly if the things are inside the Update() operation of the engine) then your tick speed can suffer. This can (and usually does) result is less enemies being spawned overall.
This difference is not meaningful for the average player. You would not notice it even if you were on the lookout for it (unless you were lagging REALLY bad, then you might). However, this is actually a serious consideration for high scoring. Spamming abilities in the hopes that they pickup a few extra kills actually does the opposite because it reduces the game tick speed and thus spawns.
Things that can cause this behaviour are:
- Any high hit-rate elemental build OR any elemental build that hits a lot at once.
- Anything where you are generating a lot of spam.
- Arcane Splinters with Split+Unrest upgrades
- There are lots of instances where this happens but I don't want to scare people off builds, especially when this doesn't apply to 99.999% of players.
Basically, if you feel like you are experiencing some lag, then you're probably losing ticks and thus experiencing some loss in enemy spawn rate.Ever worn blazing shell with a massive pickup range and noticed your game basically freezes when you get hit? This is tick rate loss in effect. The game must process all the elemental effects before it can move on with other stuff. You will lose spawns during this time.
You might have also noticed this with a big frost build when a frost wave procs.
This is especially true if the spam is low in damage. Generating a heap of hits without a kill isn't great.
I wasn't going to name abilities but this one is a fantastic example.
Each one of the splinters is updated every tick inside the update function. It's very intensive. The more you add, the more intensive it gets. They persist for a long time so it adds up fast.
