How to build Landsknecht?
I just can't figure out how to get a good build going for her. Arquebus does crazy damage and crits, but the crowd control is so bad due to terrible area and attack speed. Not to mention it suffers greatly against enemies that can block. The grenade depends entirely on damage from Arquebus, so building towards one makes the other weaker. I feel like I'm missing something so I was looking for some advice on successful builds for her.

Grenades trigger on any projectile damage, not just the arquebus. Grab Phantom Needles and you're basically done.

ohhhhh I didn't realize that. so you can spec into grenades and ignore arquebus if you get projectile spells... now there's an idea

Phantom Needles, Ring Blades, Astronomer's Orbs, Morning Star. And if you level up fast enough, you can also pick up Transfixion and Splinters.

I tend to go the opposite direction, attack speed, multi, crit damage, the boots that increase AS with space moved and focus in arquebuss attacks per second and damage upgrades, you attack so fast with multiple proyectils of arquebus hitting like a truck that you don't need any aoe.
You could also completly forget about AS and use shieldmaiden mark with fencer gloves.
Anyway I'll try to give it a try to this build you guys comment, it seems fun.

Only mele main weapon can do the fencing. And sorcress, hence the block strenght in her traits. Sage can't proc the gloves.

I get why sage doesn't proc it but I thought that ranged characters could also proc it; for example, Beast hunter procs it.

That's Thornfists you're thinking of. Fencer's can do whatever it wants. (Sage is weird and arguably bugged)

Just my thoughs, I actually suck at sage (keep dying early but he's a beast late game) so my only way for him to survive was to do a full defensive build with thornfist and the denfensive armor that explode and gives defense and regen; if you take sacred aura as the first skill thornfist deals massive damage. I think in the case of thornfist with the sage it depends of the skill you take as attack at the beggining.

To be fair this build works on pretty much all characters.
I'll add extra info here for everyone/future readers...

The projectile trigger for grenades works based on total damage the projectile WOULD have done. This means that, even attacks that get blocked can trigger grenades to fire. All that matters is the size of the hit (critical damage included) and that it was tagged as a [Projectile] (i.e. Spirit Warrior can trigger it with the Spirit Needles upgrade as these are projectiles, Kugelblitz can also trigger it, but only the actual kugelblitz orb, none of the upgrades will help IIRC).

The trigger check in related by a power law, and if you want to have a 100% of chance of grenades going off then you need approximately 20k damage. (This is just a guideline, it's not literal, you can trigger it with 10 damage it's just very unlikely.)

For this reason, you want to try and make projectiles hit for as much damage as you can (as opposed to spamming attack speed, it helps, but damage amount is FAR more impactful).

Lastly, the Landsknecht mark on Landscheckt DOES stack. It doesn't state it anywhere but note that the mark is only half as effective as the original. So Lands + Mark is only 1.5x. You're probably better served using Archer for +0.1crit.

You double all the aquebus base attackspeed skills, take all aquebus damage ones and go shooty shooty bang bang.
Grenades are aggressively mid. They're basically just a 20ish% damage multiplier for projectiles and leaning into them nerfs your strongest projectile weapon into the ground.

That's the point. It's almost idiotproof. Unless, of course, you wanna keep struggling by trying different combos or need specific achievements.

Either you build for grenades or you double power all those +base attack speed perks related to the gun and go machinegunner way. Force band helps a ton here.
Either way Landsknecht main weapon builds are pretty great.

For grenades you pick up a fast projectile ability (phantom needles are the best) and go nuts on area and multistike.

I've tried running a grenade build and it was mediocre at best, I prefer to focus on her attack speed. To that end, I prioritise getting all WP: Arquebust traits and doubling three of them. Use Archer's mark for extra crit and get the relevant Ethereal shift traits and other traits that increase attack speed. Her weapon is now a semi assault rifle. This isn't exactly a screen wiper, but I find this build to be very useful for Vault runs.
