Save Recovery
I played about a year ago maybe, I uninstalled and reinstalled and noticed my progress was gone, there wasn't a solution at the time, any way of recovering my progress?

Hi,

if you are in the camp and go to settings, do you have any Backups under Profile?
Pick the latest Backup-File that shows up.

You can also check:
Steam-Install-Folder > userdata > your user ID > 2218750
Here you should have a folder named "remote" and "remotecach.vdf".

Normaly, Steam should store your progress in the Cloud and update it automatically,
but sometimes Steam does Steam-Things.

There is a save in the in the settings section but the date on it shows it was just me playing just moments ago.

I do also have the remote and remotecach.vdf you mentioned but going into the remote folder I can see a save that is also dated as today.

Well, then you can only check via Profile, if you have a Backup with more progress and restore this save file:
> Menu in Camp

> Profile
> use the Scroll Bar
> check for the highest amount of Quests/Gold
> RESTORE

It could be there is a cloud save still left, if it's not there, it was probably never uploaded, but you can check here: https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorageapp/?appid=2218750

If you find your save there, you can follow these steps:
- Turn of Cloud Sync from the game properties.
- Go to https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorageapp/?appid=2218750
- Download the latest "HoT_profile.dat" file.
- Copy the file into the folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\\2218750\remote"
- If you are on Linux or have changed the default folder, please find where Steam was installed and look for the folder "userdata".
- Start Halls of Torment and close it.
- Turn on Cloud Sync again.

The only save there is the one from when I reinstalled yesterday

The only save there is from yesterday, I played about a year ago, did almost everything and took a break and uninstalled but I'm pretty sure this was before there was anyway steam cloud function so when I reinstalled again a little while later my save was gone so it put me off playing again until now.

Steam Cloud was active since the release of the game, there had been just a few issues in the first week that were swiftly taken care of. Is it possible that you played the prelude? This would be another ID.
