HDR BUG? Screen dim when closing game?
For some reason when I close my game, my screen stays dimmed around 50% normal.

I don't exactly know what it is, but I have to log off my user and log back in to bring it back to normal, I have checked power settings, task manager, etc. Nothing is running in the background I can find anyway.

Running 3080ti, drivers are fully updated.

Hi,

Having the same issue, maybe related to HDR or maybe another reason for this.
Needs to be fixed.

Email to support is out.

I was just thinking it was HDR related because I noticed it "flickering" trying to come back to life.

Same, must be a problem with HDR, disabling HDR an reenabling HDR fixed the issue after exiting the game.

Noted, I will try that

I have the same issue and it's indeed not playing nice with HDR. You don't need to relog or turn on/off HDR, just do Ctrl + Shift + Win + B to reload the graphic drivers once screen is dimed and it will fix the issue. Would be nice if teh devs could fix this problem (and add borderless windows support)

What do you mean log out and log back in? From Steam? I'm having this problem and nothing I can do can fix it.

gustav, i believe they mean log out and log back in to the computer - or you can go to the display settings on your computer, turn off HDR and then turn HDR back on and it should fix the issue.

this is still an issue, any ideas on how to fix?=

Windows 11 -> Search Start -> HDR settings -> "SDR content brightness" slider -> drag up and down and leave it where you want.

This is a bug which happens when you play vulkan or openGL in full-screen.

To solve this problem go to Nvidia control panel, manage 3d settings, scroll down to "vulkan/openGL present method", change it to "prefer layered DXGI swapchain".

You can now exit all games without losing hdr in windows.

@Borka, I had the same issue and your advice to change to prefer layered DXGI swapchain completely fixed the screen dimness issues I had after I had exited out of any game on Steam. It had been bothering me for months, thank you!

This helped me fix this issue in many games. Not sure if there are any drawbacks to this, but thank you anyways.
