Golem completely worthless
I just did my first run with Golem. Golem was first picked ability, and golem traits were priotized each level up. By the end of the Run, the Golem had like 600k total DMG (compared to about 2M total for dragons breath and 900k for Aura).

So this thing is unable to deal enough damage even for the first quest (750k) in a complete 30 minutes run. What the heck?!

That's right. Abilities are not very balanced in this game, not that it takes away the fun

Don't take roll duration increase, it lowers the DPS. The best stats are crit for the golem so stack that. That being said, I don't think its possible to do the 3M quest unless you use the golem against the ghost wall.

I did it b4 they even buff the AI of Golem.
Basically stage 1, me try not to attack at all, only wait for Golem to clear mobs.
No other weapons either.

It's not easy for sure but doable, it's easier now for sure.

Ramp up crit damage and chance, maybe with the sorceress, that's what I saw in another post. I tried it and just barely got 3.3mil. It does need some work i'll agree there, in Diablo 2 golems tend to run up to cast things, in Path of Exile they stand beside you can cast spells, personally I think it would be great for a sub skill where they just stand there summoning a dozen small golems to roll around and attack. But i'm just throwing some random ideas out because I think the summons need some work in general, it's weird that the orbit orbs are a summon.

Jea, The summoning AI is not good i guess. the most time they just "slide" arround and do nothing. Even if the golem does not roll it mostly stands arround trying to figure out where to slide next.
Most of the time, the enemy dies of other skills and attacks before the golem even reaches the enemy.
Would be realy better if the summons would just walk at constant speed and do not need to accelerate first. furthermore they should target enemies in their range instead of targets close to you i guess.

The AI has been buffed? I've taken him 3 times now with the following results:
The first time he would attack pretty well but then he'd roll and i wouldn't see him for 30s
The second time he would stand still doing nothing for 5s, attack once, then stand still for 5s again. I had no stats that would nerf him (such as +main weapon -other summons traits from warlock).
3rd time he only followed me, hardly ever attacking, then useless roll

dmg can make with golem in end of stage 3 to the immortal ghost, but need luck he stay in and attacked permanently , and not stay afk, or round away, before i get with immortal the 3 million dmg done was try it 20 trys+ why he is so useless and all upgrade was for the golem prio, same with all upgrades, and he reach the 3 million was make another abilitys with less skills upgrade ( same why attacked immortal ghost too) more as 6 million dmg in same time xd but after done must never take them again, only this will be better buff or maybe a ring or abillity chnace get 2 of them then maybe but actualy not anymore is only pain tage the golem and get done this 3 million is only rng on ghost xd
normal another stage never come and reach the 1,5 million dmg if people say it have only luck or lie and make same on third stage on ghost some trys if get them xd:) but this was challange to get this xd

So jea, i tried it out by just not attacking and only getting golem and giving myself unlimited life to get the 3m DMG. But jea it is pretty sad. Most of the time it was off screen, rolling to infinity and bejond, or just standing still. Especialy the worm enemy was anoying. The golem tried to chase hin but was not fast enough so everything clumped up and nothing was attacked..

U need to do the golem mastery with warlock. :(

I have 2 problemes with golem I think should be fixed.
- His roll is very bad and much less powerful than his punch and make him afk.
- He has a sliding walk animation that make him take age to aquire targets because he slide away from them which is bad because his roll cooldown is tiking down and will make afk again before he can land punch.

They don't have to be balanced to be fun, but when some options feel like a trap choice it becomes less fun. I don't want to find myself ignoring some of the more interesting options within the game because doing so could mean a failed run instead.

Maybe this will help you out! Pick Shield Maiden and go to the 3rd Map. If you lvl-up go for crit. chance and crit. damage and pick +Range and +Area/Cone size. I got my 3,5kk dmg at the end of the run. :approve: My other two skills were Ring Blades and Transfixion.

I've gotten 2.8m dmg from golem but i believe it was pure luck he attacked more than rolled on stage 1. I remembered his rolls at first were activated if you got to far from him which rocks for speed running builds plus defense for those gold farming runs. But now they musta changed it because 70 of the time he's rolling in a daisy pattern aro7nd me and no mTter how fast you run, he'll just try and walk back to you without roll8ng and without attacking. I agree they need to make him attack whats close to him 7nless you take damage by 10 plus mobs at arms reach then he should roll to you imo. But yeah avoid roll duration but that blows because it's mainly coupled with his attack speed... oh and if you try the observer run for the achievement, dont use summ9n rings. It counts as casting your ma8n weapon I believe.

Golem CAN get insane damage, but he's very inconsistent. If I had to guess what happened, taking Golem as your first trait forced you into positions where you couldn't stand your ground. Golem is at his strongest when he has to spend the least amount of time possible moving around, and won't even attack most times when he's on the edge of your screen. People complain about the roll, but it's really not the worst. It just also has consistency issues - where he'll more often clip the edge of a mob horde rather than plow through it.

The best advice I can give you is to stay as close as possible to your Golem if you want results, and to pick up his magma mod early. The fire damage is nice, but the real mvp is the increased melee range. If you set him up just a little, he can one-shot even tanky mobs. Still not entirely sure if it's worth it practically, but you can absolutely use it to hit that damage achievement.
