Here's how to get through (cheese) the "Ghost Wall" of Marching Ghosts in the Forgotten Viaduct
I don't know if this is working as intended, or if it's a bug, but I stumbled upon a way to breach the Ghost Wall in Forgotten Viaduct.

As anyone who's taken on the Forgotten Viaduct knows, there are two "Ghost Walls" composed of rows of very powerful "Marching Ghost" mobs that slowly march towards the center of the viaduct. One group starts from each end of the bridge. They are, essentially, immortal although they technically can be killed with enough damage (they each have about 1,000,000 HP each - good luck with that). They don't do any ranged or AOE attacks, but their march is relentless and they'll quickly kill you via contact damage if you don't get out of their way.

However, if you select the Avalanche ability as you level up, you can eventually acquire a trait that enhances it so that it will randomly spew "slow patches" of frost on the ground. The slow patches last for a few seconds before evaporating, but once you have your horse-power leveled up on Avalanche, there will be a ton of these things all over the place. Mobs that step into these get a slowing effect that basically reduces their movement speed.

Here's what is interesting: The slow patches will impede the forward movement of the Marching Ghosts in the Ghost Wall. And if a Marching Ghost gets slowed, all the ghosts behind it are also slowed whether they stepped into a patch or not (they can't pass the ghost in front of them). I was playing the Archer and had Avalanche going with the slow patch trait, and was staying a short (but not dangerous) distance in front of the Ghost Wall. After a few minutes, the cumulative effect of the slow patches had caused the Marching Ghosts to break rank. Some of the ghosts in the front row were moving forward faster than others due to the effect of the slow patches. Over a short amount of time, this was enough to create a break in the Ghost Wall that allowed me to slip through and get behind them. They continued their march while I stayed behind and mopped up a LOT of XP, gold, and food. There seemed to be way more than there should have been, so it was a good haul.

If you're feeling adventurous and give it a try, I'd enjoy reading about how it worked for you. Good luck!

just a quick FYI :
any slow or push ability will do what you discribe not just the avalanche upgrade

dragon breath upgrade that performs push
and all of the slow upgrades : as in tranfixion / ringblades

the faster the attackspeed off those the quicker the ghostwall will be disrupted
so in live that will prolly mean transfixion and in beta that is prolly ringblades

and if you want to kill it, that would be done with flamestrike

You can also manipulate them with your lvl up knockback.

Killing them in live is manageable with Cleric, Transfixion (Affliction Upgrade), Radiant Aura, Kugelblitz.

In Beta, as towly said, easy doable with Flamestrike and Radiant Aura/Transfixion as support, but not neccessary.

Thanks for the info, @towly and @Ulyaoth. Makes perfect sense that, since this does appear to be working as intended, those other abilities would do the same thing. I had just always assumed that the "wall" was, indeed, a wall and we couldn't get through it, so I was intrigued when I saw the slow patches muck-up their ranks. But the "rules" for knock-back and slow are obviously being applied here consistent with the game physics, so Avalanche isn't unique in that regard. Appreciate the info!

You can just walk through them...

And you can even kill the ghosts with the right combo of afflictions and damage. Get to them early and stack up the damage. There's no benefit to killing them, but it can be done.
