All these advanced builds are gear and blessing dependent though. Once you unlock everything, you'll find cleric is actually mid, maybe even low tier IMO.
who knows, but I do suspect things may be different on late game as you say, but I guess my complaint is that each character should be somewhat viable at every stage of the game to allow for different playstyles, where I'm currently in the progression, I only see one route forward and I'm blissfully unaware of how these other players are even getting to their weird gimmick builds.
in early game, Cleric definetly can shine above the others.
Later, after you unlocked equipment and found some good Synergies, all characters become equal devastating.
The Swordsman is the classic "Fighter". You found already, utilizing him with Scars of Toil and his high max HP, he can become a beast.
Since his Main Weapon is Physical, you can pair him wonderful with physical abilites, or completly do with him what you want, since he has no "real Synergy".
Archer, in short, becomes a perma critting Gatling Gun and clears tons of enemies with only one item, Echoing Band. She is squishy, but her dps can become insane.
Exterminator will lay waste with fire. His Fire Synergy makes the DoT "Burn" as deadly as everything else and the fire abilites are very fun to play. i personaly like the Fire Death Ray, what Dragon's Breath can become into.
The guy who shoots demons (actually Ghosts^^), the Warlock, can become the most potential Summoner. Imagine a huge army of minions all over the place, a Clay Golem and Spirit Warrios in company.
Sorceress is shockingly efficient when build around crit and applying Electrify, similar to the Exterminator. She is very quick and the lightning abilites making great fire works.
The Sield Maiden used to be the Tank to Go, but recently Block sufferd some problems, that will probably get adjusted with the next couple hot fixes.
You can do a pure tank build with here, where enemies get punished by touching you.
She also has great potential with Ring Blades, Flame Strike and Spirit Warriors or Golem, all "Melee" abilites.
Some chars may feel weak early on, but with the right set of equipment and traits, all can become insane machines of death.
Happy Killing,
Cheers!
