Is losing fun?! (Lord Of Pain)
Just beaten the Lord Of Pain with the Cleric ...

(Wind Crown, Copper Ring, Seal Of Rebirth, Collar Of Confidence, Runner Shoes, Blood Soaked Shirt, Longfinger Gloves --- basically damage (crits!), speed, lightning, transfixion, blades, even some health towards the end, etc.)

... after 14hrs of gameplay and I believe what is now 84 achievements. Oh, Lord, I died many a times and I am certain there´s more death and grinding ahead of me.

My definitive answer: Yes, indeed.

i tend to mostly focus on doing achievements.
like i go into a level like "ok, time to turn off my main wep and focus hard on golem to try to get 3 million damage."

then by the time i get to the lord i have like my main wep, probably unoptimal equipment and traits, and probably a bunch of uncollected ability unlock scrolls.

but i got my achievement.

eventually i got the kill ten lords, mostly when i finished all of the first level achievements and started using the second level exclusively. and now theres no real reason to kill the lords anyway since there's no reward beyond the achievements.

Losing isn't fun, and it's not meant to be fun. It's meant to trigger an impulse for you to improve, to get the reward of seeing that improvement bear out. "Achievements" mean nothing without adversity.

Great explanation, cheers! I think the game triggers exactly that impulse for me ...

Beat him after 5hrs of playtime w warrior lmao. It was very close. I killed him and with his last attack he killed me as well. Dont forget to upgrade health pool and then just dance to his attacks
