Prolonged suffering bug?

I am trying to get the quest done but I am stuck at 49989/50000 and it is super frustrating. I have no idea why the quest suddenly doesn't progress anymore. Am I doing something wrong? I interpret effect kills as letting enemies die from a burn tick for example. Is that wrong? I am going insane leaving this unfinished

Hi,

try to use Exterminator without any ability in the first map.
You could also pair him with the Lightning Ring to apply electrify as well.

Tap the enemies and let em die from the effects.
If nothing helps, no idea sry.
