Why this game is not worth 15$
1. Not long enough. I completed my first playthrough in 2.5 hours. Seriously, 2.5 hours. I don't consider myself a genius puzzle solver, but other than a few head scratching in Hillbilly section, no puzzle was that hard to understand. It mainly just took time to complete.

2. The Monk. There is no section that has infuriated me more than this one. Not because the puzzle are hard, but because theyre not even real puzzles. Facing away from the wind automatically and then not after a certain point is agravating and pointless... Either don't change the basic mechanics, on don't rechange them in the middle of the puzzle. Also, it took me more than 10 attempts to pass the imobile "puzzle" as it would never trigger, even if I NEVER EFFIN MOVED!

3. 7 characters... 7?! We need to select 3 characters, but we will absolutly have to replay 2? Was it THAT hard to come up with 2 other characters? I find that lazy and annoying.

4. No replay value. So after maybe 5 hours of gameplay, the stories are all complete... Whats the point in trying a new combination?

5. Character skills are moot. There are almost no multiple ways to finish the non character puzzles. You can complete them without every using a character skill. The onyl reall reason to use a character skill is to enter their area. Once in, almost no puzzles require their skill.

6. Some puzzle resolutions causes ares with story glyphs to become unatainable. This causes you to have to chose the same character again to get that 1 glyph you missed because you didnt get it before this or that. Thats just bad design.

7. Some puzzle are unclear as to their succes, causing us to try new solutions evenwhen its complet, or already on progress. This caused me to loose at least 30 minutes in the Scientists area.

8. The hype was too great. The story infered, or the idea portraid in prior information on the game let me to believe the game would be much more story oriented with and gameplay remenisent of Maniac Mansion. This is not it. This is a puzzle platformer with 3 interchangable characters that all fail to achieve what they really want. Well ecept the time traveler.

This is a sad game for me. I was really happy when I lernt Double Fine would be making a new game. But this is just sad.

Agreed. Monotonous and tedious game design mixed with puzzles a 4 year old could solve. Had higher expectations from the guy who made Monkey Island, seriously. Monkey Island was a mix of adventure, humor and puzzles. It was a million times more creative than this turd.

Well, the game is indeed easier than monkey island. I was able to just "play through". In monkey island I remember I stopped playing for days, or weeks, because I didn't find out how to continue. But anyways I love this game. It doesn't have to be difficult to be good. You don't evaluate movies or other kinds of entertainment by level of difficulty. This is a game a bit nearer to movies, you can just relax and play through, and experience a great story interactively. Not saying that it's supereasy. I think it has the necessary level of difficulty to keep you thinking, engaged, but be able to continue, without getting stuck like in monkey island - because you didn't think about some very tricky and sometimes ilogical things.

What I appreciate most of this game is that is offers a very unique experience among all the mainstream / indie stuff currently available. It's a very interesting and well done game. I love the atmosphere, the stories, how it's done. If you're looking for complicated puzzles or big challenges, just pick any other game - most will be harder to solve. Or do IQ tests, this will have a lot of challenging puzzles.

Hopefully people would produce more special games like this. I don't care if they are easy, or difficult, as long as they are special. Not one more product of "game designers" and marketing people trying to meet high game quality standards. I'm very happy about what I got for the $15.

Most of your criticism also doesn't make sense - the special abilities of the chars are used in their levels. This could maybe have been done "better" (more challenging or tricky), but the fact alone, that they implement the concept of these reserved areas was too cool for me to think about flaws. I also could get all the glyphs without problems, played 3 times - all 7 characters. (But don't know all the characters combinations, of course. If it's really the case it might be a bug). That with why they did not 2 characters more is just nonsense, if they were really "lazy", thay had done 6 characters instead of 7 - problem solved. I didn't have any problem repeating the special areas of 2 chars. I picked the 2 ones I liked most.

A lot of bugs
with achivements, perfomance

and I recommend to play it, but not for 15$ and only one time
just completed last achievements. Encountered no bug at all in entire game. Nor performance issues :) Nice game.
I finished all the bad endings and now I'm doing the good ones. No bugs or performance issues whatsoever. =)

I did think the game was a little short, but the story and the atmosphere made me love this game.
I agree with the second point. Maybe they could implement them in the future, I hope, because now there's no value in a third replay, sadly.
Also I had no problems with the "imobile puzzle" of the monk, first attempt was good.
This game is not focusing the challenge, is telling you a story, teaching you something and I find that game simply deep and entertaining. 9/10

I didn't understand why they made 7 characters. Either make 6 or 9 if you're gonna pair them in threes. Ayway, I found the game to be pretty interesting and funny, even though the puzzles are very easy. So I don't regret the 15$ spent.
well, when you will do fate's achi you will be really glad there are not 8 of them :P .. I hate Hillbilly more then the Cave hates ZOOs :)
7 characters for the 7 deadly sins. Ron Gilbert said they cut a bunch of characters, because these 7 were his favourites.

damn didn't notice that at all. now that makes sense XD

love the game - thanks ron well worth every cent.
i mean what do you expect or 15 bucks thats less than some greedy companies want for ONE DLC ALONE...
And to complete the game with all characters on the good and bad ending you will put more than 10h in it...

so yeah bashing this 15 bucks game (or should i say gem), only makes you look like a complete fool.
just my 2 cents
The game is fun to play and I enjoyed the few hours of entertainment I got out of it.

That said you guys must be lucky to not see a single bug. I kept having characters getting stuck on objects and terrain or their specials stop working forcing a restart of the game to fix.

If you play on keyboard and mouse - yes, not issues.
I play with XBOX360 gamepad

I agree the Flower Lotus puzzle is just bad game design(fyi you can hold shift to make your character walk instead of run which makes this puzzle a breeze, so naturally the game never even hints that you can do this...) but other then that, you're overreacting. This game doesn't have that many challenging puzzles, yeah so what? It has a wonderful atmosphere, excellent and funny story telling and some pretty darn clever puzzles.

I didn't buy this game expecting a Rayman Legends + Monkey Island hybrid. I expected an Indie puzzle platformer with a great story. I wasn't disappointed. Even if it's shorter then I thought it would be and I skipped an entire section with sequence breaking on my first go, but other then that, great game. You just sound like you expected too much.

I expected what the developpers told us, what they represent. Something between a platformer and a puzzle game remenescent of Maniac Mansion. I personnally didn't like the story, I found each character had somewhat of a hint of charm, but it just wasn't enough. The lotus "challenge" was infuriating because it changed the mechanics without telling and then returned them once you were used to them. Im not saying I completly hated the game, Im just saying that 15$ was too much.
