There's no reason to use the hard tires.
After my first season I found almost no situation where using the hard tires is beneficial. The tyre life is always about the same, 2-3 laps for the softs, 3-4 for the hards, but the hard tyres are so much slower that is always more advantageous to make 3 stops. The difference of grip between the tyres is so big you'll always make more time on the softs, plus, when you make 3 stops you're also carrying less fuel, which makes you even faster.

I wouldn't ask for the hards to have more grip, because their function isn't to be mediuns, but I think the hards wear too fast for it to be useful. I hoped that having tire life researched on max would let me finish the entire GP in a set of hards, being limited only by fuel, but softs also last longer making them again faster tires and it never got to the case in which the hards were actually useful.

You are rght to a certain extent and it's something that is on our radar amongst all the other suggestions and improvements we're trying to make. So for example, one thing we have on our to do list is adjusting the abrasiveness of track surfaces: tracks like Cote D'Azur and Brussels for example have a track abrasion setting that ensures a soft tyre will only last two laps and no more. You can use softs to do three laps on Valencia, but they will all be critical when you pit. A lot of the other tracks however haven't had their abrasiveness tweaked from the default setting, so they're currently a bit too forgiving to the softs. When we get round to that, it will hopefully be that every track poses its own challenge: some tracks will favour hards and a one stop, and others will favour softs and a two stop and you'll need to adjust strategy on a track by track basis. Does that make sense?

Absolutely, and it's not hard to do it, but the softs are always faster so there isn't much of a point to it.
