Follow the forums and don't be afraid to learn the intricacies of setting up your own guitar. All my infuriating note recognition issues came from poor guitar setup so it's worth at least learning how to correct the instruments intonation all the way up the neck (even changing string gauge/material can affect this) and how to optimise pickup height. These were the significant factors affecting even my new guitar. Rocksmith can be VERY fussy about hardware setup. I view it positively as all part of the guitar learning process.
