[SOLVED] (Mac) Real Tone cable is no longer  recognized
For months I have been using the Aggregate Device workaround so I could use my audio interface as Rocksmith's input device without a problem. Since updating to macOS 11.5.2 a few days ago, Rocksmith no longer recognises any input device, neither the Aggregate Device nor the original Real Tone cable. Also, the Microphone input mode cannot select any input device either. I tried to remove and return Rocksmith's access to input devices via System Preferences, but to no avail. What else could I try?

Found a fix:
Uninstalled the game
Deleted the remaining folder from ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common
Removed the Microphone permission from System Preferences/Security
Re-installed the game
Changed the configuration file Rocksmith.ini: RealToneCableOnly from 0 to 1
After launching the game, it asked for permission for the Microphone, since then it worked again.
Thanks for the update, might put solved in the title, for eventual other readers?

Brilliant to hear that you found a fix. If you need further support please reach back out.

My posted fix stopped working after the next reboot. But I think I found the true culprit: Apple headphones with W1 chip. Any Apple device with the same Apple ID will communicate with the headphones and list them as a possible audio device, which seems to irritate Rocksmith. After turning off Bluetooth, everything works fine again. Unfortunately, that is just a workaround, not a solution, but I hope it may help others.

Hey Nikyukuu,

Thank you for getting back to us, sorry to hear the issue cropped back up but glad to hear you've found a workaround that helps you play in the meantime!

Just to revive a dead post - this doesn't work in macOS Ventura.

This seems to be breaking on Ventura and in quite a bad way. @Nikyukuu's hack isn't working anymore.

@Ubisoft - Please fix it proactively instead of relying on the community to come up with solutions.

Same thing here, after updating Mac OS to Ventura, RealTone cable stopped working :'(
Typing a new problem in an old post, with the title SOLVED.....

That really shows why you should make a new post.....

Yeah, pretty confusing. There is no update for Ventura. If you want to run RS don’t install Ventura.

Hey guys,

We already have a thread tracking this issue available here.

Please take care when posting on the forums to check for more recent threads before reviving old, inactive ones.

I'll be locking this going forward, but as noted in the thread I've linked - this is being looked into.
