you can try turning off exclusive mode, but the real solution is to simply increase the volume of your speakers or headphones.
If you find that your speakers/headphone output amplitude is insufficient, then you need a better final stage output. That means more powerful speakers, better headphones or even a dedicated headphone amp.
(I recommend the cmoyBB 18V. It's what I use to drive my Sennheiser HD590's, and it kicks butt for a low price).
Don't worry about the input level of the Rocksmith cable. Rocksmith does not have ears, it does not "hear" like we do. The input level of your instrument will have absolutely zero effect on the output level, and it will not improve note detection or anything else silly like that. But turn it up too much and you will cause the input to clip, which can and likely will affect note detection.
Basically, let Rocksmith handle that and don't worry about it.
!!!!warning your sound is now 100% loader on your pc!!!!
The OP is talking about Rocksmith 2014 being quieter than everything else that is run on the PC even when 100% volume is set. This has bothered me, after buying some quality studio headphones that still didn't improve much. Running through an interface also which further drives the headphone drivers louder, but still not loud enough. So I downloaded Letasoft Sound Booster, tried the 14 day demo and purchased almost instantly because you can make it so loud, that you could hear the music from the headphones from the other side of the house lol. Just be very careful not to wreck your hearing because this can go to 500% louder than windows default.
Before you start the game lower your output in windows to 50%. launch the game and you will notice rocksmith is running at the same audio it did at 100%. Raise your volume and you will notice the game audio increases much louder than it was before.
I think the game calibrates itself on start up depending on your output volume settings and adjusts everything accordingly. Hope this can help someone.
Thanks for coming into the post and providing your solution. :)

then turn down the volume of the guitar in the game so it doesn't sound so loud
Didn't work for me. Since I already have my volume at 50%, I lowered it to 10%, which would amount of doing the same. But when raising the volume, it was still lower than the rest of the windows sounds.
Doing this allowed my volume to be the same as all other windows applications and also to take advantage of sound booster application. Now the sound quality in Rocksmith was degraded somewhat, but the volume issue is corrected for me.
I really hope this works for everyone else!!
Good luck!
I've pretty much accepted this is how the game is. It's a pity, but well. I'll play it with an amplifier or big speaker when I can. A shame.
Thanks for taking the time to share this here >Tha Masha<, we appreciate it and hope it may help others in future!
