I picked up a cheap Ibanez with one. It kinda sucks for this game, but is otherwise ok.

Squire Bullet Strats are cheap and servicable. You have the added bonus of having a nice platform to experiment with(replacing components on the guitar) once you start getting better.

I agree with the fender Bullet Squire and epiphone
But the neck I picked up for my squire of old really had some questionable quality control with the frets

I bought the original Rocksmith bundle with an Epiphone Les Paul Junior (it is a full size guitar) - this guitar is perfect for a beginner, it has a nice tone and a slim neck. It does only have 1 humbucker rather than the 2 on Les Paul Studio for example, but you won't be disapointed. :-)

If you really wanna learn an epiphone les paul standard is the best bet. And works great with Rocksmith.

I use an Ibanez for main tuning (Has Floating Bridge). But I grab my ole Best Buy Special (Gibson Maestro) for drop tuning. But I agree with Floating tuners... if you only have 1 guitar for this game, don't make it a floater. But I LOVE the sound and feel of my Ibanez!

I actually started with the Rockbnand 3 real Squire Controller. I did not like the feel then i bought a Epiphopne Les Paul Special II from Craigslist then i bought a Squire 51' and that is the guitar i like the most. I still want a squire strat and a tele and a Les paul custom eventually.

I'd say get a cheap squire from a pawn shop, about $70.00 used on average. If you are on a budget, if not get something in a full scale. Fender/Squire have comfortable necks to most if your going to play long sessions. For speed, a good Ibanez or Jackson that is professionaly setup with light strings and low action.

When in doubt, you can always go to guitar center (or your areas equivelent) and try a bunch out till you find whats right for your style and skill level.

There are ways to make a floyd rose with locking nut easily tuned, but requires blocking the trem and defeats the purpose they were designed for. I do primarily use floyd rose equiped guitars for the game, but I have many in different tunings to choose from.

I play acoustic. So to keep with the acoustic feel ( High action, high tension acoustic strings ) I use my Yahama Silent Guitar ( Steel-string version ).
