[Solved] Terrible tuning issues.
Original Post:

I've tried to recalibrate it several times. I can't pass the precision tuner test, and the tone detection is all over the place for the green and pink strings.

Problem Solved:

Originally posted by Zetmor:
Set the level on the Windows USB cable driver (recording devices) so that it's not completely saturated. Set it so it's near 100% when strumming like mad.

This totally straightened me out. I was at 17 on the windows slider, jacked it up to full and now everything detects great. I wondered why the calibration was all weird, and this was it. Thanks man.

This worked for me too! thanks so much! I thought my guitar volume was low compared to the vocals and now I know why! My high E string was not tuning before unless I strummed it while tuning... now it is a bit wobbly but it will tune with one pluck! Thanks again! Do I have enough ! ?

recalibrate and play softer, make sure you have a good connection, make sure your volume knob on the guitar is maxed, and try different pickups. Hopefully one of those will fix it.

Hope this helps. Thanks guys.

Set the level on the Windows USB cable driver (recording devices) so that it's not completely saturated. Set it so it's near 100% when strumming like mad. Then run the game and recalibrate ingame (that changes only the range of the recorded sound, not the level of the USB input, that's need to be done on the Windows driver).

At first, I tweaked around with it a lot and got it acceptable. Had to tweak the tone know to medium low, change the pickups and raise the volume.

I'm suprised at how much more sensitive than 2011 this was.

Thanks for the tip Zetmor! I was having this same problem in RS1.

Yeah, I had to do the same thing in the first Rocksmith game too.
One thing to note, Windows treats the Realtone cable as a different device for each USB port you plug it into, so it's a good idea to plug it into each USB port in turn and raise the volume on each one.

This is coming up for a lot of people. Can we get a sticky?

I also had this problem , the new tuner visuals didn't help.
I seriously think they need to make the tuner a bit more clear.

Thank you so much for editing the OP so people with the same problem can find how to fix it without searching through pages of replies!

I wonder if the 17% volume gets setup automatically from a setting in the game or it's a default ruled by the programmers.

Whatever level I set mine up to, as soon as I run the game it gets set back to 17% again.

This is strange. I did not adjust the level as I usually do and it played fine for me. I checked and it was at 17% Did several tunings. Guitar level sounded fine.

Interesting. Mine too. Maybe they patched it. I did reboot my system. Will investigate further later.
