Go cry to your mommy. Until rhythm games came along there was little to no continuity between games, or leveraging previous DLC in newer version. For all of the whining from people, no one ever pays attention to the fact that Rock Band, and now Rocksmith, have had far more official DLC even available than any other game that I am aware of.
I understand. I own RS1 for Xbox and bought RS14 for my Mac so I can bring it everywhere with me. It stung at first, but I bought RS1 again and the import tool and now have access to all DLC and most songs from the original. I'm happy with the decision, especially since it was made when Rocksmith was on sale. The way I looked at it, my copy of RS1 was for a totally different system. I would never complain about not being able to play my copy of Mortal Kombat 2 for SNES on my friend's Sega Genesis.
is is a Steam problem! I got the run around from their support all week they would only respond to me once a day telling me things I already knew like "You should be able to down load it try the website instead of the application." I respond yeah I tried that, then I'd have to wait till the next day. so I went out and researched the whole thing. Rocksmith says they have Hundreds of DLC tracks for 2014. It says it in their FAQ. How come I can only download 8 WTH. I figured they must mean the Rocksmith original DLC as well. So I laid out a big case to steam with links to back it up. They said
"I apologize for the inconvenience you went through.
It turns out that ownership of the original edition of Rocksmith is required in order to be able to purchase the "old" DLCs." I thought I was heated before, whoever was on the other side must be lying just to get rid of me is what I thought. So I called UbiSoft support (I googled the number) I told them everything. they said the old Rocksmith DLC "IS" available to Rocksmith 2014 owners but "THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH STEAM" we are working to resolve the issue.
I emailed steam support right away trying to be very respectful... I told them what I just heard. They said "The issue is being investigated but I cannot provide a release date or even a guarantee that a solution can be implemented." Why didn't you just say that before! I bought this product under the impression that, although I didn't like many of the songs, I could download the ones I like. Its the first thing I tried to do. The only thing holding me back is Steam. I refuse to pay them money that I don't have to! I WANT MY SONGS! [/quote]
I didn't ever install it - I just bought it and all it's songs appeared in my library (except 5) that do not come with it.
I could complain that for 15 bucks I threw that away because I will never install RS1. But if you figure I got like 45 songs for the 15 bucks - and that they were only around a 30 cents each. Who can really complain.
Then I had to buy a 9.95 "conversion util) That probably bothered me more than buying RS1. But again that helps you get 45 songs from RS1 - now making each song cost around 50 cents per song. STILL A great value. So I didn't mind.
THEN once I had those 45 songs at 50 cents each, there was a holiday sale and I purchased around 100.00 worth of songs all at 50% off. (the DLC) So again - a great value and I have no complaints. If I could have just downloaded the DLC at regular price I would have paid far more than I did for RS1 - the conversion util - and the songs I bought at 1/2 off.
Watch amazon and other places for deep discount on RS1. You only need to buy it and get the reg-code. Enter the code in on steam and it says "you own it" you don't need to download or install it. Then buy the conversion util. (9.95) off the RS2014 program purchase page. And you don't have to install that either. All the RS1 content will just appear. Then you can buy any DLC you desire.
The 45 or so songs that come with RS1 really helps justify the money spent on RS1 and CONVERSION util. Even though - there really were only 4 songs in RS1 I had interest in.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wish to buy the maroon 5 dlc on rs2014
Edit : It doesn't work.. This is frustrating! I also bought it as a gift, then activate it on Steam, but it won't use it too...
It's beyond a joke tbh but the complications behind it are pretty easy to see.
So it worked out okay and you got the key?
Remember too that now you can get the 'disk import tool' for $10 and download 50 (iirc) of the on-disc song from RS1.
Yeah it worked out! I am planning on getting the disc import tool but first I think I'll pick up the Megadeth DLC.
A lot of songs are fixed but it is taking them a very long time to get off the cash cow Anyway if you only have 2914 the best way is to go to the SHOP while in game and use that list to order.I am pretty sure that the list in there is working. If iam wrong i stand corrected. But this Topic is a reacurring one and has been since 2014 release WE all feel the pain
Welcome to Double DRM. The land no accountabillity It is a steam deal but they dont care. ITs all our fault for preordering and buying DLC. Now all we get is crap games, high prices and no customer support ;-)
