Why Can't I download Rocksmith DLC
Steam Won't Let Rocksmith 2014 owners Download DLC

This is a Steam problem! I got the run around from their support all week they would only respond to me once a day telling me things I already knew like "You should be able to down load it try the website instead of the application." I respond yeah I tried that, then I'd have to wait till the next day. so I went out and researched the whole thing. Rocksmith says they have Hundreds of DLC tracks for 2014. It says it in their FAQ. How come I can only download 8 WTH. I figured they must mean the Rocksmith original DLC as well. So I laid out a big case to steam with links to back it up. They said
"I apologize for the inconvenience you went through.
It turns out that ownership of the original edition of Rocksmith is required in order to be able to purchase the "old" DLCs." I thought I was heated before, whoever was on the other side must be lying just to get rid of me is what I thought. So I called UbiSoft support (I googled the number) I told them everything. they said the old Rocksmith DLC "IS" available to Rocksmith 2014 owners but "THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH STEAM" we are working to resolve the issue.
I emailed steam support right away trying to be very respectful... I told them what I just heard. They said "The issue is being investigated but I cannot provide a release date or even a guarantee that a solution can be implemented." Why didn't you just say that before! I bought this product under the impression that, although I didn't like many of the songs, I could download the ones I like. Its the first thing I tried to do. The only thing holding me back is Steam. I refuse to pay them money that I don't have to! I WANT MY SONGS!

Couple of songs I would like to buy. I don't know why they won't take my money.

You have to buy RS1 before you can buy old DLC, the old DLC will automaticaly be playable with RS2014.

That is for now. If people are patient, steam and ubi are working to make it buyable in 2014. The better reason to buy RS 1 is to be able to transfer the on disk songs to 2014.

Yeah, I'd love for them to fix it, but I won't be TOO upset if they don't, because I plan on buying RS1 this Holiday Season if it's on sale for the on disc content to transfer.
Me too - though it was made only for PC - and I'm using MAC version - I don't think that works then? (different platform?) What stinks is the new songs we can download... most I don't know or like. I rreally like the RS1 offerings.
Will it be possible to buy RS1 and put songs on mac version? any util or way to do that at present? I have several PC's too - but I don't use them now that I have a iMac.

Sorry you had to find out that way OP ... this has been known and documented here on these boards as well as UBI's since the release.
Thing is - no one knows about this (documented here) until they buy the game. I had never heard of steam, and never bothered with Uplay or UBI site. So we buy - then throw into the term oil. I guess I just play what came with it. I don't like Iron Maden or Smash pumpkins.

Yes, you can use the original songs on the Mac. You can buy the PC version on Steam or get it (with the cable) for less on other sites like Amazon. If you buy the boxed version, just register it using the code in the package.

Once that's done, you can buy the disc import tool from the RS2014 page in the Steam Store for $10 and all of the RS1 songs will automatically appear in RS2014. (RS1 DLC will appear even without the import tool).

I own the PS3 version of the original Rocksmith. I bought 2014 for my PC, since it is easier to hook to the PC and play than it is to hook up to the PS3. I keep getting told that I need to own Rocksmith to get DLCs. I DO own Rocksmith. How do I convince Steam that it's on the PS3?

So I have to own Rocksmith Sr twice? That seems like a waste of a scam to me. Maybe I can sell my PS3 Rocksmith back to Game Stop and recoup some of the lost money.

While I am at it, I have never seen a disclaimer telling me before I bought the new game that I need to have a Steam-registered Rocksmith I. I feel a tad disgruntled right now. I promised my wife I'd be learning Free Bird this weekend.
