Alternatives To Real Tone Cable?
Hello, recently the real tone cable that came with my Rocksmith game broke. It broke because the part that goes into the guitar bent and made the cable unfunctional. I was wondering if anyone knew of any alternatives to the real tone cable until I am able to purchase a new one.

Thank you!

Nope. Sorry. Amazon have the original though.

You could fix it if you have any skill with electronics DIY.
The important part of the cable is the box near the USB end, that does the signal conversion.
If it's only the 1/4 inch plug that's broken you should be able to just cut that off and solder a new one into place. 1/4 inch plugs are readily available from DIY electronics stores.

Very true. Otherwise your local guitar shop might be able and willing to help.

So, there's no way to bypass the RealTone Cable?
Sounds my standard-recording Guitar-USB-cable's useless now

There are hacks available to make other interfaces work on Windows boxes, but they're not officially supported.

I'm now experiencing the same issue with one of my cables. Once it goes I will have a new one soldered on. Might as well make it a 90 degree one as well as the standard is a pain in the but when playing a LP.. :comet:

Here is my suggestion for when you get the cable fixed or replaced. Instead of plugging the Realtone Cable directly into the guitar, use a regular guitar amp cable hooked up to the Realtone Cable with a 1/4" in-line coupler. Real guitar cables are far more heavily built than that Realtone cable, especially if you get a decent one from a music store. Depending on where you go, for $15 you can get one with shielding and heavy duty all metal jacks.

In my opinion, instead of making a full cable, they would have been better off just making a box with a 1/4" jack so people could use their own amp cables.

Except if you are new to all of it. Then it is just another thing you need/have to buy to play.

You will eventually need an amp cable anyway for when you feel good enough about your playing to get an amp. Some beginner guitars come in kits with amps and amp cables (albeit cheap crappy ones).

I for one, would rather break a cheap amp cable than that $30 Realtone cable. Also, you can just walk into a store and buy an amp cable, you have to order the Realtone cable online.

Apparently, the Bandfuse guys wanted to do that, but couldn't get permission. They ended up working around that by using 1/8" phone plugs instead of 1/4" phone plugs. They pull out more easily, allowing them to comply with the rules. Kind of a neat trick and it allows people to use a 1/8 to 1/4 adapter and regular instrument cables.
