M-Audio 192 -- No Sound issue [*SOLVED]
*(for me anyway...)

Alright, I hope this helps someone.. This may work for other cards... you may have additional issues which nede to be resolved... whatever.

After loading up Rocksmith 2014 at launch, sound was working perfectly for me. I had recently bought an M-Audio 192 on Ebay for the supposed linux compatability. And everythign was working perfectly, for me , at first. But not so much for other people with sound issues, so there was a patch. After that sound in RS2014 was hit and miss, and I was trying all kinds of stuff to get it to work, but nothin. I tried playing with the M-Audio Delta configuration tool - would finally get sound but the next time it was gone. Turns out, that if I rebooted and ran RS2014 was the best chance I had at getting sound.

Finally, I think I got it.

Control Panel > Sound > Playback > Select your sound device > Properties > Advanced

Un-check "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" > Apply

I know, the Ubisoft config documentation says otherwise, But I can config it back and forth on my WIN7SP1 machine all day and its consistent like flipping a light switch on and off.

Here is what I think is going on...

Some other application is grabbing exclusivity of the sound card and not letting go. Or RS2014 is not getting priority to become king of the sound card hill.

I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO SOUND ISSUES RUNNING RS2012 WITH EXCLUSIVITY ON.

So, something in the RS2014 code that negotiates exclusivity is in definite need of attention.

Again, I hope this helps someone. If you still have issues - I would still recommend that you leave exclusivity off as you work to resolve them.

The programm 'Audials' and some other programms wich are working with the soundcard can be the issue too.

hmm going to try this out later on my card worked fine in 2012 but i have really distorted sound on 2014. Will let you know if it worked i have a Realtek btw

On PC. I did unallow as described in the top, and it worked perfectly :-) Had slow disturbed sound, and it was impossible to tune the guitar because of that too. After the fix everything just worked as it should. Thanks a lot Ak-Apaka-Paka.

@Plekter - Fantastic News! So, you did have sound but it was distorted?

@Willem - I have a Realtek on my ASUS MB (sabertooth990) but no linux drivers. Sound in Linux sure, but could not get Jack to work properly, hence the MA 192 purchase.

I have encountered the same issue with my M-Audio Fast Track.
I have disabled "exclusive control" option as suggested here and it worked.
But i think this is still an issue because i think disabling that effects the performance. I am having a high sound latency and i think that is because i had to disable that option.
Does the game have the ability of using ASIO driver at all, i am not sure... Developers should investigate this issue.

Thank you a ton. Worked. My audio was sounding all crazy and stuff, I use a Xonar DX, it had major distortion, and after fiddling with settings for some hr, just UN-checking the audio exclusiveness fixed it. Very odd, but definitely a bug on their end.

Sorry for the bump, but I'm running an M-AUDIO Delta 1010LT and the game keeps complaining that "No audio output device is detected.".

Every other application/game works perfectly fine.

I can't even get it to run with the exclusivity mode set off in the game and disabling the exclusivity in the Windows 7 sound settings.

Did you get this worked out? I had this happen to me last night and loading a "M-Audio Delta" tool config file I had previously saved fixed the issue. Check your settings in the M-Audio Control panel and see it that works. If not, friend me and pm me. I will go over my settings or if possible, send my config.des file.

I changed some settings in the configuration file and was able to run it, I think it was the exclusitivity setting and perhaps another one. I could check the next time I'm on the computer with the card.
